Heinrich Klassen registered his name at a base price of INR 1 crore in the IPL 2023 Auction players list. The South African wicketkeeper batter was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 5.25 crore during the IPL 2023 Auction.

Speaking on JioCinema, Styris said that South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen has been the worst buy at the IPL 2023 auction because of the kind of money Sunrisers Hyderabad spent to secure his services.
Heinrich Klassen has joined the Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals replacing Steve Smith in the 2018 season. Later Klaasen was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.
Heinrich Klassen made his T20I debut against India in February 2018. In January 2021, Klaasen was named to captain the South Africa T20I squad for their away series against Pakistan.
In April 2021, Klaasen was again named as South Africa’s T20I captain, this time for their home series against Pakistan, after Temba Bavuma was ruled out due to an injury. In September 2021, Klaasen was named in the South Africa squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Heinrich Klassen played 36 T20Is and scored 651 runs at an average of 25.03 and has played 7 matches in IPL and scored 66 runs at an average of 13.20.
