Ahmedabad IPL Team Captain: Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to appoint as the skipper for the Ahmedabad-based IPL team in IPL 2022. The all-rounder has been released by his former team Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
BCCI decides to host a mega auction for the IPL 2022 season right after the inclusion of 2 new IPL teams. These new teams are allowed to pick a maximum of 3 players ahead of the mega auction event.
Earlier to this, all existing 8 teams announced their retained players list where each team is allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players.
Ahmedabad IPL Team Captain
Hardik Pandya – one of the promising all-rounders is expected to lead the Ahmedabad IPL team in IPL 2022. The franchise may pick Hardik Pandya as their skipper owing to his all-rounding capabilities.
But the main reason for his selection as skipper may be owing to his service in the Mumbai Indians team. The franchise may pick him for the reason that Hardik might learn a lot of captaincy skills from Rohit Sharma which could boost their team’s performance in their maiden tournament.
Hardik recently faces a lot of criticism and even misses his spot in the Indian squad. Hardik struggles a lot to get back his fitness and form after his back injury.
During the 2018 Asia Cup league-stage encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan the Indian all-rounder first had his tryst with a back injury. Hardik was stretchered off the field and was out of action for almost 3 months.
The back injury once again surfaced during the 2019 World Cup and even though he completed the tournament, it was clear that something needed to be done. Hardik then underwent successful surgery in London and is expected to retain his form back.
Hardik was also picked for the T20 World Cup 2021 where MS Dhoni was appointed as team mentor, but he did not live up to the expectations as India had an early exit from the marquee event. The Indian selectors faced flak for picking Hardik in the T20 WC squad despite knowing – he cannot bowl and is not 100 percent fit.
Hardik’s inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup team this year wasn’t well-received by fans and pundits with many pointing out his fitness issues.
The Men in Blue failed to reach the knockouts after losing to Pakistan and New Zealand in the Super 12 stage.
Notably, Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar reveals that he already predicted Hardik Pandya would soon face an injury owing to his lean physique.
