As of CSK, for the first time ever, MI roped a player for INR 10+ cores in an auction. MI’s former wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan was roped by MI for a whopping 15.25 crores. Notably, Kishan got the tag of the most expensive player of IPL 2022 auction.
Earlier to the IPL 2022 Auction all 8 existing teams announced their retained players list and released the remaining players to the auction pool from which the 2 new IPL teams are allowed to draft a maximum of 3 players each.
According to which, Lucknow Super Giants ropes KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and uncapped player Ravi Bishnoi. Where Gujarat Titans picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill as their drafted players.

MI spend a massive INR 8.25 crores on all-rounder Tim David and makes him the second-highest buy of the MI in the IPL 2022 Auction.
It is worth mentioning that MI picked the South African U19 World Cup sensation Dewald Brevis who is also known as ABD 2.0 for INR 3 crores.

Jofra Archer was one of the most exciting picks in the IPL Player Auction 2018, fetching a massive INR 7.20 crore and following his impressive showings RR, as one would have expected, chose to retain the pacer for IPL 2020 and IPL 2021.
The England pacer set the stage on fire for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2020 and scalped 20 wickets from 14 games and on a few occasions, used the long handle with effect.
Archer missed the IPL 2021 season owing to an injury. Archer registers his name under the price category of INR 2 crores in the IPL 2022 auction. Though MI roped him in Auction, Archer is unlikely to get featured in the IPL 2022 season.
“The ECB has registered Archer for the auction with a view to potential participation in 2023 and 2024, as due to his current injury, it is unlikely that he can participate in IPL 2022,” the BCCI wrote to the franchises ahead of the 2022 Auction.
