Earlier to the IPL 2022 Auction all 8 existing teams announced their retained players list and released the remaining players to the auction pool from which the 2 new IPL teams are allowed to draft a maximum of 3 players each.
According to which, Lucknow Super Giants ropes KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and uncapped player Ravi Bishnoi. Where Gujarat Titans picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill as their drafted players.

Lockie Ferguson
In February 2017, Ferguson was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants team for the 2017 Indian Premier League. In December 2018, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.
In the 2022 Indian Premier League auction, Ferguson was bought by the Gujarat Titans for INR 10 Crores.

Rahul Tewatia
Rahul Tewatia made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals as early as 2014. Before the 2014 Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals bought Tewatia. He also made his T20 debut representing Rajasthan Royals in the 2014 IPL.
In February 2017, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab team for the 2017 Indian Premier League. In January 2018, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils now Delhi Capitals in the 2018 IPL auction.
During the 2019 Indian Premier League, he also set the joint record for taking the most catches (4) by a non-wicket keeper in an IPL inning.
In November 2019, before the 2020 Indian Premier League, he was traded to the Rajasthan Royals. On 27 September 2020, he equalled Chris Gayle’s record for hitting the most sixes in an over of an IPL match, when he hit 5 sixes off Sheldon Cottrell in the 18th over of the match against Kings XI Punjab.
Tewatia in his IPL career scored a total of 521 runs from featuring in 48 matches so far.

Mohammed Shami
Shami was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2011. He did not play in the IPL until 2013, making three appearances for Kolkata during the season. Ahead of the 2014 season teams were only allowed to retain a maximum of five players, and, following his international debut, Shami was signed by Delhi Daredevils in the player auction.
He played in 12 of Delhi’s 14 matches during the season, taking seven wickets. He was retained, but did not play a match the following season after being ruled out with a knee injury.
He played sporadically in the IPL during the following three seasons, making eight appearances for Delhi in 2016 and 2017 and just four in 2018 when he was again hampered by a knee injury.
After being released by Delhi ahead of 2019 season Shami was bought by Kings XI Punjab(now Punjab Kings) in the 2019 player auction for INR 4.8 Crores.
In the 2021 season, Shami took 19 wickets in 14 matches and finished as Punjab’s leading wicket-taker for the third straight season and as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in that year’s competition

A total of INR 551.7 Crore was spent in the two days of the IPL 2022 auction over 204 players including 67 overseas cricketers. The most expensive player to emerge at the auction was Ishan Kishan who was bought for Rs 15.25 crore by Mumbai Indians.
