Earlier to the IPL 2022 Mega Auction all 8 existing teams announced their retained players list and released the remaining players to the auction pool from which the 2 new IPL teams are allowed to draft a maximum of 3 players each.
According to which, Lucknow Super Giants ropes KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and uncapped player Ravi Bishnoi. Where Gujarat Titans picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill as their drafted players.

Expensive Players of CSK in IPL 2022: The four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings spent 45.5 crores in IPL 2022 mega auction to fill the squad with 21 players.
CSK ropes a total of 17 Indian players with 8 overseas players including the retained players. Focusing on the future, the CSK franchise build the team with a unique auction strategy which allows them to walk out of the mega auction with INR 2.95 crores remaining after picking 25 players.
Turning down the expectation, CSK fails to rope in some of their star performing players including Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, and Shardul Thakur.
CSK, who has a history of not picking the players for more than INR 10 crores in an auction, broke their bank for the first time to rope Deepak Chahar back into the squad.

The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer becomes an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2018.

Ambati Rayudu
Once referred to as India’s next batting star, Rayudu announced his arrival when he scored 177 as a 16-year-old against an England U-19 team in 2002.
The 30-year-old was held on to by Mumbai Indians prior to IPL 2011 when all IPL squads got a makeover. And given his consistent run over the last three seasons, Rayudu was again retained by MI prior to IPL 2014. In the 2015 season, Rayudu made 281 runs at an S/R of 145 and remained not out on five occasions.

Dwayne Bravo
After plying his skills for the Mumbai Indians in the first three seasons, Bravo was taken up by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2011 IPL. A hard-hitting batsman and a decent-paced bowler, Bravo is an asset to any T20 side in the world.
His all-round usefulness led the CSK think tank to retain him ahead of the 2014 season. Ahead of IPL 2016, the West Indian all-rounder was picked by the new team Gujarat Lions in the player draft.
