Sisanda Magala Reped in as Kyle Jamieson’s Replacement For IPL 2023
CSK spent INR 1 crore to bag the service of Kyle Jamieson in the IPL 2023 Auction but was rule out of the tournament owing to injury.
“Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 Crore. His replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game.
Though he has played just 4 T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation for being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 Lakh,” IPL said in a statement.
Magala took 14 wickets in the recently concluded SA20 at an economy of 8.68 and was the joint-fifth-highest wicket-taker in the league.
As per IPL Schedule 2023, CSK will play their first match of the tournament against defending champions Gujarat Titans on March 31 in Ahmedabad. But the participation of Sisanda Magala remains doubtful owing to his national commitment.
As per a report, South African players involved in their upcoming ODI series against Netherlands will arrive late at the IPL.
South African squad has not yet announced but recently Magala was awarded a central contract. His involved in the ongoing series against West Indies, suggesting he is likely to be included for the Netherlands series.
