Though the minimum recovery time is estimated to be 4 months, the exact rest period has not yet been announced. The minimum 4 months period will automatically rule him out of the Indian Premier League 2023 season which will be played between March – April this year.
At the IPL 2023 Auction, CSK roped Kyle Jamieson to fill their last overseas spot for INR 1 crore to complete the squad. As per IPL 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between CSK and GT on March 31 at Ahmedabad.
Jamieson’s condition also ruled him out of the England tour of New Zealand 2023 where pace bowler Matt Henry joins the squad.
Confirming that Jamieson is currently consulting with a surgeon to plan the procedure, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead told reporters:
“It’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us,” Stead said. “He’s been fantastic around all of our sides when he’s been part of them. We just wish him well and hope we’ll know more in three to four months of what that end prognosis looks for him as well.
“We just wish him well, and we will know more in about three to four months about what that end prognosis looks like for him. Surgery provides a quicker return to play and that’s the encouraging thing for him. We want to give him the best chance of recovery because we know what a star he has been for us,” Stead added.
Prior to joining CSK, Jamieson was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021 auction for INR 15 crore and becomes the second most expensive player in the IPL 2021 auction.
But Jamieson opts to skip IPL 2022 and explains the reason for his decision. At the IPL 2023 Auction, Jamieson register his name under INR 1 crore cap and was brought by CSK at his base price.
Kyle Jamieson has played 9 matches in IPL so far and bagged 9 wickets at an economy rate of 9.61.
