BCCI Releases IPL Dates for Next Three Seasons

With all eyes on the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the IPL dates for the next three seasons.

To be interesting, IPL 2025 will begin on March 14 and the final will be played on May 25. The 2026 seasons will be played between March 15 and May 31 while the IPL 2027 season will be played between March 14 and May 30.

An Email has been sent to all franchises with the IPL council termed the tournament dates as windows, which could be the final dates for the tournament. The early announcement would allow franchises and players for better planning.

The 2025 season will comprise 74 matches which is the same in the last three seasons.

In the tender document for the new rights cycle, the IPL had listed a varying number of matches per sesaon which ranged from 74 games in the 2023 and 24 season, 84 matches in 2025 and 2026 season and a maximum of 94 games for the final year of the deal in 2027.

But the 2025 season will have a number 10 less than the 84 matches when the media rights for the 2023-27 cycle were sold.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced that the pacer Jofra Archer will be available for the upcoming season. The England bowler considered as a high impact player was not listed in trimmed players list earlier, will be available for the full season.

While he could have joined the marquee set of players, he comes as player no 575. Effectively his name will come up in the accelerated process after the first 116 players have been transacted.

Meanwhile, overseas player from the full member countries except Pakistan have got approval from the respective country boards to play for next three years in the IPL.

Cricket Boards of Australia, England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has submitted the list of players available for the IPL 2025 season and also assured that retained players ahead of 2026 and 2027 season will be available again.

Players from South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe will be fully available for IPL season.

The BCCI has confirmed that the mega auction will be held in November 24 and 25 at Jeddah. Despite the event being hosted overseas, IPL fans can still enjoy the IPL 2025 auction live streaming from their home.
