Lucknow Head Coach: Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower has been appointed as the Lucknow head coach for the upcoming IPL 2022. The Lucknow-based team is one of the 2 new teams which will make its debut in the Indian Premier League 2022.
Sanjiv Goenka-led RP-SG Group win the bid to own one of the teams in IPL for a whopping amount of Rs 7090 crore. Notably, Flower was working with Punjab Kings as an assistant coach for the past two seasons.
The 2 new IPL teams have an advantage of picking 3 players for their team prior to the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is expected to host in India during the second week of January 2022. Also read: Lucknow IPL Team 2022 Players, Name, Owner Details

KL Rahul, who was Punjab’s skipper for the last two seasons, is also expected to move to the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise.

“Since my very first tour to India in 1993, I have always loved touring, playing, and coaching in India. The passion for cricket in India is unrivaled and it is a real privilege to lead an IPL franchise and I am looking forward to working closely with Dr.
Goenka and the Lucknow team. I will relish the challenge to build something meaningful and successful with the Lucknow franchise, I am looking forward to meeting the management and staff when I visit Uttar Pradesh in the New Year.”
Andy Flower coached England to the T20 World Cup title in 2010 and also to secure the number one spot in Test rankings. After serving in various coaching roles for 12 years with the ECB, Flower took the plunge into franchise cricket in 2019 where he has had a successful run so far.
He was head coach at Multan Sultans who won their maiden PSL title earlier this year. He also led St Lucia Kings to two CPL finals in 2020 and 2021. Flower’s latest international assignment was as a consultant with Afghanistan at the T20 World Cup.
