- The award is given to the top wicket-taker of IPL 2025.
- The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season will be the Purple Cap Holder and wears it in the field.
- In case of a tie, the bowler with a better economy rate is awarded the Purple Cap.
- The Purple Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Purple Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition bowler has overtaken his wickets.
