LSG Released And Retained Players 2025: Lucknow Super Giants is one of the two new teams to make their debut in the 2022 edition. Unlike their co-debutant Gujarat Titans, LSG hasn’t won any IPL trophies so far.

In their first two appearances, the Lucknow-based franchise qualified for the playoffs while in the last season, the team failed to do so. In the last IPL season, under KL Rahul’s captaincy, Lucknow Super Giants finished 7th in the points table and failed to advance to the playoffs round.

LSG will be keen to build a strong team with the advantage of the mega auction scheduled for the next season. Though the exact date for the IPL 2025 mega auction has not yet been revealed, the event is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London.

LSG Released And Retained Players 2025 (Probable)

As per the report, the teams must announce their final retention list by 5 PM IST on October 31.

According to the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI, each team can retain six players from their existing squad, either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option.

LSG chairman Sanjiv Goenka faced massive criticism during the IPL 2024 season for having a heated argument with KL Rahul after LSG’s defeat against SRH. Though the incident raised rumours of LSG parting ways with KL Rahul, there were no official announcements regarding KL Rahul’s future at LSG.

LSG will not dare to shake their core combination ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction but will make use of the big event to fix their errors.

According to the IPL committee rules, each franchise can have 25 players in their squad, out of which a maximum of 8 can be foreign players. In Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in the mix.

Lucknow Super Giants is owned by RPSG Group, who previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise between 2016 and 2017.

IPL 2025 Auction Date

The 2025 mega auction is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London. The 2025 mega auction will be a more than-a-day event, unlike the mini auctions which will be hosted in a day.

IPL 2025 Teams Purse Value

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, BCCI increases the purse value of each team by INR 20 crores over the existing purse value of about INR 100 crores.

The final purse value of the team will be decided right after they submit the retained and released players list for the event. Lucknow Super Giants Purse Value Before Auction will be 120 Crore without announcing retention and releasing players list.
