IPL 2025 Groups List: Right after the BCCI planned to host the Indian Premier League with a total of ten teams, the board reintroduced the GROUP format. In the IPL Group format, all ten participating teams will be divided into two groups of five teams.
A total of 70 group matches will be played where each team will play seven home and seven matches.

IPL 2025 Groups List: As per the IPL 2025 schedule, the first match will be played on 14 March 2025. Following are the details of the IPL 2025 Groups list:
How teams are grouped in IPL 2025?
The teams are ranked based on a number of titles and a number of runner-up titles they won(as in 2024).
As per IPL 2025 rules, all 10 teams will play a total of 14 league matches (7 home matches and 7 away matches) totalling 70 league matches, followed by the 4 playoff matches.
Each team will play 5 teams twice, and the remaining 4 teams will play only once (2 home and 2 away).
To explain it clearly a team from one group will have to play 2 matches against the remaining teams of the same group and the next equally aligned team of the opposite group.
Example
In Group A: Lucknow Super Giants will play 2 matches each against MI, KKR, RR, and DC of the same group and will also play 2 matches against Chennai Super Kings in Group B. Lucknow team will play 1 match against the remaining teams of Group B which are – SRH, RCB, PBKS, and GT.
In Group B: Chennai Super Kings will play 2 matches each against SRH, RCB, PBKS, and GT of the same group and will also play 2 matches against Kolkata Knight Riders in Group A. CSK will play 1 match against the remaining teams of Group A which are – MI, RR, DC, and LSG.
Which Team Face Twice in Opposite Group?
- MI will face SRH for 2 times and viceversa
- KKR will face RCB for 2 times and viceversa
- RR will face PBKS for 2 times and viceversa
- DC will face GT for 2 times and viceversa

IPL 2025 Format
The format of the IPL 2025 edition will be the same as the previous year. Following are the details of the IPL 2025 Format:
- The ten teams are divided into two groups of five.
- A random draw was used to determine the groups and who plays whom across the groups once and twice.
- In the group stage, each team plays 14 games facing the other four teams in their group two times each (one home and one away game), four teams in the other group once, and the remaining team two times.
- IPL Points Table system: The team winning a match will be awarded 2 points. The losing team will not receive any points. In case of a draw or no result, both teams will be awarded 1 point.
- A four-game playoff stage following the Page playoff system is held after the group stage. Four games will be played in the playoffs:
- Qualifier 1: between the teams ranked first and second in the group stage.
- Eliminator: between the teams ranked third and fourth in the group stage.
- Qualifier 2: between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator.
- Final: between the winners of Qualifiers 1 and 2.
