Delhi Capitals who placed at the bottom of the IPL 2023 Points Table managed to register their second victory of the season by beating SRH by 7 runs. While batting first Delhi managed to score 144 runs after losing 9 wickets in the first innings.

Delhi bowlers somehow managed to load pressure over the SRH’s batting unit and restrict them to score 137 runs for 6 wickets loss at the end of the 20 overs.

During the post-match press conference, Kuldeep Yadav admitted that there’s plenty of room for improvement for the team.

“We believed it as a team and as a bowling unit, we had done really throughout the tournament. We still need to improve in our batting,” Kuldeep told the reporters in the press conference on Monday.

Though Delhi Capital’s bowlers didn’t bowl out the entire SRH batting unit they managed to restrict them to a score of 137/6.

“We didn’t get a wicket in the pack but we bowled really well throughout the 20 overs. We kept the pressure on them by not giving the easy boundaries.

“I thought we really bowled well in the powerplay, gave away on 35-36 runs. After that myself and Axar, we just kept us in the game in the middle phase and in the last four overs, Nortje and Mukesh bowled exceptionally well,” Kuldeep said.

SRH were in need of 13 runs in the final 6 balls where Mukesh Kumar bowled the over. Marco Jansen and W Sundar both struggled to score the required run and failed 7 runs short off the winning mark.

“He bowled well in the last game as well. He is playing his first IPL, he is improving day by day. Bowling in the death overs are never easy,” said Kuldeep.

When questioned over David Warner’s decision to bat first, Kuldeep Yadav quickly jumped to his defence.

“He has played here for seven years. He knows the conditions well, so he opted to bat first. Wicket was slow and he thought it probably is difficult to chase. As a bowling unit, he believed in us. He gave freedom to each and everyone,” he asserted.

Delhi Capitals will play their next game of the season against the same SRH on April 29 in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
