Chennai Super Kings Inning
Winning the toss, Hardik Pandya let Chennai Super Kings bat first. CSK’s regular openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened the innings. Shami in the 3rd over uproots Comway for just 1 run and registered his 100th IPL wicket.
Ruturaj Gaikwad made a stronghold in the field and starts to smash the ball all around the venue. Though Gaikwad made a strong stand, he struggled to build a great partnership as the following CSK batters returned to the pavilion without making an impact.
Gaikwad who was expected to register his second IPL century was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph for 92 runs. During the 13th over, Kane Williamson injured himself while attempting to catch at the boundary rope.
MS Dhoni made a great cameo by scoring 14 runs off 7 balls and led CSK to score 178 runs for 7 wickets loss.

Gujarat Titans Inning
To chase down the 179 target, Gujarat Titans opening batters Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill walk down to the crease.
RS Hangargekar draws the first blood for Gujarat Titans by dismissing Saha for 25 runs in the 4th over. Sai Sudharsan who was named as the replacement(under Impact player rule) for the injured Kane Williamson join hands with Gill.
The duo made a 53 runs partnership before Sudharsan’s dismissal for 22 runs. RS Hangargekar breaks the partnership with a wide-length ball delivery. Sai Sudharsan went chasing to cut and gets a faint under edge that carries through to Dhoni.
Gill with his impressive 63 runs off 36 delivery led Gujarat Titans to a safer position. Gujarat Titans required 8 runs in the last over. Inexperienced Tushar Deshpande bowled the last over where Rahul Tewatia smashed six and a boundary off consecutive deliveries and led Gujarat Titans to register their first victory of the season.

Player of the Match
Rashid Khan | Gujarat Titans
So happy to get this crucial Man of the Match. Will give me a lot of the energy for the rest of the competition. I try to do my best in all three formats, and give it all in the practice sessions.
The plan is hard to bowl to lefties, but the idea was to keep it tight and I knew in my mind that if I keep it simple and get two wickets, we will be back in the game. I knew if I kept it simple we will get the results.
( On batting improvement) It is all thanks to the time we spend in the nets, and the confidence given to me by the coaching staff and captain Hardik. I’ve been batting a lot and the results are there to see.
