IPL 2023 Auction Live Streaming: The Auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL) 2023 is scheduled on December 23 at Kochi. The IPL 2023 will be live-streamed on Star Sports and Jio Cinema at 2:30 PM IST.

    IPL 2023 Auction Live Streaming

Ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction, all teams are given November 15 as the deadline to submit their retained and released players list. Before the auction, every team received a small increment of INR 5 crore each in their total purse value.

IPL 2023 Auction will be live-streamed on Star Sports and in Jio Cinema. The IPL 2023 Auction will begin at 2:30 PM IST in Kochi. On March 29, 2022, BCCI announced the release of an Invitation to Tender for IPL Media Rights 2023-2027.

The IPL 2023-27 media rights have earned INR 48,390 crores (digital+TV). Across five years of media rights, a total of 410 matches will be played where BCCI earns roughly INR 118 crore per match.

Disney Star retained their Indian sub-continent TV rights by paying Rs 23,575 crore (Rs 57.5 crore/game) while Viacom18 bagged the digital rights with a winning bid of Rs 23,578 crore.

Previously, Star India Network won the IPL broadcasting rights for the 2017-22 cycle for INR 16,347.50 crores for both digital and TV. This is the first instance when the BCCI has sold the IPL broadcasting rights for television and digital separately.

The value per IPL match made more than a 100 percent jump from the previous Rs 54.5 crore to above Rs 118.02 crore, making it the second most expensive sports league in the world. The per match value (USD 14.61 million) of IPL is second only to NFL where every match is worth USD 17 million.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hinted at increasing the number of Indian Premier League (IPL) games per season in the next cycle of 2023-27.

    IPL 2023 Format

The IPL 2023 format is not something unfamiliar to the IPL cricket community. The format has been used in 2011 IPL where the tournament is played with a total of 10 teams.

    • The ten teams are divided into two groups of five.
    • A random draw was used to determine the groups and who plays whom across the groups once and twice.
    • In the group stage, each team plays 14 games facing the other four teams in their group two times each (one home and one away game), four teams in the other group once, and the remaining team two times.
    • IPL Points Table system: The team winning a match will be awarded 2 points. The losing team will not receive any points. In case of a draw or no result, both teams will be awarded 1 point.
    • A four-game playoff stage following the Page playoff system is held after the group stage. Four games will be played in the playoffs:
    • Qualifier 1: between the teams ranked first and second in the group stage.
        • Eliminator: between the teams ranked third and fourth in the group stage.
        • Qualifier 2: between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator.
        • Final: between the winners of Qualifiers 1 and 2.
