England’s Liam Livingstone tops the list of most expensive overseas players in IPL 2022 auction with a price tag of INR 11.5 Crores. Punjab Kings won the bidding auction against all remaining teams and roped him in the 2-day mega event.

Liam Livingstone
In December 2018, Livingstone was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League. He was released by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2020 IPL auction.
At the inaugural season of The Hundred Liam Livingstone was named Player of the tournament after scoring his 348 runs at a strike rate of 178.46.
He also took five wickets in the tournament and underscored his bowling pedigree with figures of 2 for 22 in the T20 WC semifinal against New Zealand.
Incidentally, Dan Weston, the analyst at Livingstone’s Birmingham Phoenix reprises the same role at Punjab Kings.
England all-rounder Liam Livingstone was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 11.5 crore in the IPL 2022 Auction. Livingstone was the costliest buy on Day 2 of the auction.
Liam Livingstone in his T20I career so far have scored 285 runs with the highest of 103 while appearing in 17 matches.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Sri Lanka-born right-handed bowling all-rounder was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 auction. Wanindu Hasaranga kept a base price of Rs. 1 crore ahead of the auction. He played as a replacement player for Adam Zampa in Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last edition.
In August 2021, Hasaranga was included in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. He made his IPL debut on 20 September 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
During India’s tour to Sri Lanka in July 2021, Wanindu Hasaranga gained the limelight after winning the player of the series award in India vs Sri Lanka T20I series. He also played a leading role for his team to win the T20I series 2-1.
Nicholas Pooran
The southpaw from Trinidad is amongst an elite group of players that includes Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, Brian Lara and a few others to score a century in the World Cup for West Indies.
In February 2017, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians team for the 2017 Indian Premier League for INR 30 lakhs but didn’t play any match in the whole season. Pooran went unsold in the 2018 IPL auction after setting his base price at INR 50 lakhs.
In December 2018, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League for 4.2 crores. Pooran had an excellent IPL 2020 season as he scored a total of 353 runs in the 14 matches he played in the season.
In the 2022 IPL Auction, Pooran was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹10.75 crores.
Lockie Ferguson
In February 2017, Ferguson was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants team for the 2017 Indian Premier League. In December 2018, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.
In the 2022 Indian Premier League auction, Ferguson was bought by the Gujarat Titans for INR 10 Crores.
Kagiso Rabada
In February 2017, Rabada was bought by the Delhi Daredevils team for the 2017 Indian Premier League for INR 50 million. In January 2018, he was bought again by Delhi (Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL auction but was later ruled out of the season due to a back injury.
He was retained again ahead of the 2019 Indian Premier League by Delhi Capitals. He played 12 matches in the league stage before leaving for national duty.
He picked up 25 wickets and become the highest wicket-taker for DC and overall second-highest wicket-taker of that season. DC qualified for the playoffs for the first time since the 2012 IPL season.
In the 2020 Indian Premier League, he become the highest wicket-taker of the season by picking up 30 wickets in 17 matches he played. In both seasons, Rabada played a vital role in his team’s success.
In the 2022 IPL auction, Rabada was bought by the Punjab Kings for INR 9.25Cr.
