Captains View
David Warner | SRH
We will bowl first. Don’t think the conditions will change a lot, we’ll have to play with a positive mindset. We need one or two batters at the crease for an extended period of time. The fielding wasn’t great, we are looking to improve on that. Jason Holder and Shahbaz Nadeem in, replacing Nabi and Sandeep Sharma.
Virat Kohli | RCB
Looks patchy, so not a bad toss to lose. Runs on the board in Chennai is proving to be important, if we do get wickets in the middle overs, it will become difficult. Was a good game, but we were not at our best – to finish eight down wasn’t ideal, but as a bowling unit, it was great to be back in the game.
We will need to be professional, play ourselves in and then get a good total. On such pitches strike rotation is important. You don’t want to leave too much towards the end. We will need to stay ahead of the game – Padikkal is back, he replaces Rajat Patidar. I will open with him, Shahbaz will bat at three.

Player of the Match
- Name: Glenn Maxwell
- Team: RCB
- Role: All-rounder
- Stats: 59 runs off 41 deliveries(4’s – 5, 6’s – 3)
It’s a very nice start, new franchise for me and they have given me a specific role. To start like this is really nice. It’s nice to have batters behind you, you have freedom with AB to come and it’s a very similar role I have in the Australian cricket team.
The support staff have been backing me as well. It’s just about using the experience. Get myself in and then go for the runs. Probably having those guys behind me is a luxury at RCB. Maybe was pushed a bit too deep and expected to go from ball one, which I am not pretty good at.
Maybe a bit of cultural thing as well. Obviously.. I think it’s my 4th IPL team and there’s a bit of pressure. So it was really key for me to turn up and do well.
I will wait for my chance to bowl. Washi is a superstar for us. The more I don’t bowl and hopefully, I can keep contributing with the bat, the more happy I will be.
