We will bowl first. There might be dew, but the wicket still looks dry. So we want to make use of it with the ball. You can only take the positives from such a loss. One change. Mishy had some shoulder injury, so Lalit comes in.

Eoin Morgan | KKR Skipper

Would have liked to chase, been the trend in T20 cricket but ultimately we need to play good cricket. The bowlers were accurate and got a lot more than previous games. I have struggled for form as well. Was nice to get some runs, albeit a small contribution. Hopefully I can continue through the tournament. No changes for us. Looks like our strongest XI on paper. Another opportunity for us to build confidence and bring our best.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Batting

Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill gets into the crease to lead KKR from the front while Ishant Sharma opens the bowling attack for DC.

This duo is expected to make a massive opening partnership but Axar Patel in the 4th over dismissed Rana for 15 runs and breaks the partnership for 25 runs.

Following Rana’s dismissal, Gill and Tripathi join hands and leads the KKR. Tripathi struggles to face the aggressive DC bowlers. Soon Stoinis in the 10th over dismissed Tripathi for 19 runs where KKR scored 73 runs for 2 wickets loss at the end of the 10 overs.

In the following over Lalit Yadav picks a couple of massive wickets by dismissing Eoin Morgon and Narine for golden ducks. This loads the pressure over the KKR batting unit.

With Russell’s quickfire of 45 runs from 27 deliveries along with Gill’s contribution of 43 runs, KKR scored 154 runs for 6 wickets loss.

Delhi Capitals (DC) Batting

Dhawan and Shaw gets into the crease to lead DC to chase down the target of 155 runs. While Shivam Mavi opens the bowling attack.

KKR needs to make quick wickets by dismissing the dangerous opening pair. But DC’s opener seems to be very strong with their bat as they scored massive 67 runs for no wicket loss at the end of the powerplay.

Man of the Match

  • Name: Prithvi Shaw
  • Team: Delhi Capitals
  • Role: Batsman
  • Stats: 82 runs of 41 balls

Wasn’t thinking anything to be honest. Was just waiting for the loose balls. We’ve played for four-five years now (with Mavi), so I knew where he will bowl to me. I was prepared (for the short ball). The first four-five balls he bowled were half-vollies so I was prepared for the short ball but unfortunately he didn’t bowl.

On this wicket especially when the spinner is bowling it wasn’t coming very nicely onto the bat. Was stopping a little. Was waiting for them to bowl at me on off stump or outside so I can free my hands. When I’m in there, I keep playing and don’t think about the score. Don’t think about myself, just want the team to win.

No we haven’t spoken yet (with Sehwag) but if I chance I’d like to because he’s the one who likes to score off the first ball. My dad has supported very well. After getting back from Australia, I wasn’t happy with myself.

My dad just asked me to play my natural game. All these words set a target on me and I worked hard. In cricket the graphs are going to go up and down, a lot of failures are going to come my way.
