The duo turns down the huge expectations of making an impressive opening partnership. In the mid of the 6th over Cummins dismissed KL Rahul for 19 runs. At the end of the 6 overs, PBKS scored 37 runs for 1 wicket loss.
In the followed over Shivam Mavi dismissed Gayle for duck and dismissed the dangerous batsman. Again PBKS hit with a shock when Prasidh in the followed over dismissed Hooda for 1 run.
At the end of the 10 overs, PBKS scored 56 runs for 3 wickets loss. PBKS starts to lose back-to-back wickets with Chris Jordan’s quickfire 30 runs PBKS scored 123 runs for 9 wickets loss at the end of the 20 overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) Batting
Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana gets into the crease to lead KKR to chase down the easy target of 124 runs. Henriques opens the bowling attack for the PBKS.
PBKS needs to make quick wickets which could increase their winning percentage. As expected Henriques in the very first over dismissed Nitish Rana for duck. In the followed over Shami dismissed Gill for 9 runs and loads pressure over KKR.
Arshdeep Singh in the followed over dismissed Narine for duck. PBKS as expected made the early wickets but KKR have a strong middle order which could set as a game changing moment.
As expected Rana and Eoin Morgan made a much-needed partnership. This duo added 60+ runs partnership before losing their next wicket. In the 11th over Hooda dismissed Tripathi for 41 runs and breaks the partnership.
With Eoin Morgan’s unbeaten 47 runs KKR beat PBKS by 5 wickets and registered their second victory of the IPL 2021 season.

Wins haven’t been easy to come by. Have worked incredibly hard. Today, along with a bit of luck, the performance was very impressive particularly with the ball upfront. When the wicket’s like that – from the 12th over of our innings, the ball was sliding on.
Only his second game this season (Mavi). The match-up against Gayle was favourable. He bowled well in the last game and started well here. For him to make an impact is huge, credit to him.
The advantage we have over most spinners is that our spinners are variation bowlers. They don’t rely on drift and turn. They control their lengths well and rely on a tiny amount of turn and today they were exceptional.
Lot of time to go in the tournament. Hopefully today can kick-start something for us. Certainly think it’s challenging and it does have to be managed for players, coaching staff.
When you consider the horrific nature of what’s happening outside the bubble, we try and lend our support and encouragement for everything that’s going on not only in India but around the world.
