Captains View
MS Dhoni | CSK
We will bat first, looks like a good wicket. Setting a target will be a better option. It’s the same for everyone. I can’t say if it’s a good break or not. Once tournament starts, you get into some sort of rhythm but this season it’s new and maybe us cricketers will start loving it. Seven games, then a break, and seven more.
It comes down to how you play on that day in the shortest form. We’ll try to do the basics right and focus on the process. Sam is not available. Faf, Moeen, Bravo and Josh are playing this game.
Pollard | MI
We weren’t so sure, so happy that I lost the toss. Rohit is okay, he’ll be fine sooner rather than later, I’m just the captain for today. We started a couple of months back, and we were just starting to build the momentum with a couple of wins.
Rohit misses out, Hardik is not playing as well. Anmolpreet makes his debut, that’s about it, all others are regular players.

IPL 2021 CSK vs MI Highlights
Chennai Super Kings Batting
Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad get into the pitch to lead CSK for the first league match of IPL 2021 in UAE. CSK starts to lose back-to-back wickets and makes a very bad start.
Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali walk to the pavilion without scoring a run. While Rayudu makes a retired hurt without scoring a run.
Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad gets under pressure to make a partnership. CSK dreams gets scatter when Milne dismissed MS Dhoni for 3 runs. Ravindra Jadeja walks in to join hands with the long-standing batsman Gaikwad.
After Jadeja’s wicket, Bravo made a quickfire 23 runs off 8 deliveries. Ruturaj Gaikwad with his impressive 88 not out made CSK to score 156 runs for 6 wickets.
Mumbai Indians Batting

Though MI poses a threatening start, it’s Chahar who makes CSK to get back on track. Chahar dismissed de Kock and Anmolpreet Singh for 17 and 16 runs. Soon Thakur dismissed dangerous batsman Suryakumar Yadav for 3 while Faf du Plessis took an impressive catch to dismiss the player.
While the wind turns in favour for CSK, Pollard and Saurabh Tiwary drag MI back to their original track by making a crucial partnership. MS Dhoni makes a smart move by bringing Hazlewood back to bowling, as expected Hazlewood bring down the big man by dismissing Pollard for 15 runs.
Krunal and Saurabh Tiwary join hands to lead MI. The lone warrior Tiwary’s half-century gives no use in the run chase. CSK won the match by 20 runs.

Man of the Match
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Obviously one of my top innings till now. With the pressure of early wickets and with the seniors in the dressing room, I just had to grind and get the team to 130, 140 and then 150 was possible. When Mahi Bhai is around and with the CSK management, once they back you, you don’t have to think much.
The SL tour and the preparation coming here did help too. Initially, the ball was seaming and swinging so I had to take my chance against the spinners. Jaddu just came in and I had to take my chance and it came off well.
Quinton was taking charge, and my drop at that stage could have been crucial, but luckily Deepak got him out soon after.
