BCCI Regulation on Team-Bus Enforced in Kolkata Ahead of England T20Is

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly has confirmed that BCCI’s team-bus rule has been implemented and no special arrangements have been made for any player to travel individually ahead of the T20I series of England tour of India.

He revealed that CAB has put restrictions on the personal travel arrangements of players ahead of the first T20Is against England following the BCCI’s strict rule change in the National Cricket team after the humiliating defeat in Australia.

As per the regulations, BCCI has sent a 10-point diktat to the state associations including travel arrangements, limiting family presence, playing in domestic matches etc ahead of the England tour.

Ahead of the first T20I against England at Kolkata, CAB president Ganguly has revealed that the BCCI’s regulations on travel keeping in line have been implemented.

“In keeping with the BCCI’s 10-point guidelines for players, the Cricket Association of Bengal has not arranged any separate means of conveyance [for individual players]. Only a team bus has been arranged for the Indian team.”

“There won’t be any personal vehicles for the cricketers. We have to follow the guidelines, which clearly state that all players are expected to travel with the team to and from matches and practice sessions,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Indian Cricket Board has made it mandatory for all players to travel with the team for training and all matches to ensure the discipline among the team.

Apart from the travel regulations, it is mandatory for all the players to participate in domestic cricket while not being on national duty. This has been seen come into effect as Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma has confirmed their availability for the next round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are unlikely to participate in next round of the Ranji Trophy due to respective injuries. The Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has commented that it is not a punishment for players, mentioning that all teams have certain rules in place which need to be followed by the players.
