     India U-19 Cricket Team Performance at the World Cup

    Cricket has been the most popular sport in India for many years. The sport arrived in the country with British soldiers in the eighteenth century. India had its very first professional cricket team by 1972. At Lord’s in 1932, the country’s national cricket team had its first match. Speaking of the India national cricket team, or Men in Blue as the team is called, it got its Test status back in 1931.

    The India national cricket team has been one of full International Cricket Council members since 1926, alongside Australia, England, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and West Indies. Over the years, the team has won five International Cricket Council tournaments, two Cricket World Cups, one International Cricket Council T20 World Cup, and two ICC Champions Trophies. As of December 2021, the India national cricket team is ranked first in the ICC Tests, second in ICC Twenty20, and fourth in One Day Internationals.

    India Under-19 National Cricket Team 

    India also has a highly successful national cricket team that competes in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. The team was founded in 1979. Throughout the years, India Under 19 national cricket team won four ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cups in 2000, 2008, 2012, and most recently in 2018. The team also won eight ACC Under-19 Asia Cups in 1989, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019, and most recently in 2021.

The national team of England advanced to the finals first after defeating the team of Afghanistan by fifteen runs in the semi-final match. The India cricket team was placed in Group B, alongside Uganda, Ireland, and South Africa.

    On the 15th of January, India played its first match against South Africa and won by forty-five runs. Vicky Ostwal was the most successful player in this match. On the 19th of January, the team played its second match against Ireland. The game ended in India winning by one hundred and seventy-four runs. The player of this match was Harnoor Singh. In the last match of the group phase, the team played against Uganda on the 22nd of January. The match ended in India winning by three hundred and twenty-six runs.

    With three wins, six points, and a net run rate of 3.633, the India national team advanced to the Super League, alongside South Africa, England, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In the Super League quarter-finals, India played against Bangladesh on the 29th of January. The India U-19 team won by five wickets, and the player of the match was Ravi Kumar. In the Super League semi-finals, the national team of India met with the Australian team.

    The match ended in India winning by ninety-six tuns, and the player of the match was Yash Dhull. With this being said, the India U-19 team won every single match it played before the final game that took place on the 5th of February. In the final match, the Indian team claimed its fifth title after defeating the team of England.
