Toss : Thailand Women won the toss and opt to bat

    Captain’s view

Sornnarin Tippoch | Thailand skipper: We will bat first as we want to get a good score and then build pressure later on. We want to score well and in bowling we want to keep it tight. We are enjoying this tournament and we are going with the same team.

Javeria Khan | Pakistan skipper: I would have bowled first keeping the conditions in mind and would like to restrict them to a low total and chase it down. We will have to understand what needs to be done and with more matches, hopefully we will get better and we are all missing Bismah and the responsibilty has been given and my role is to enjoy the batting and give confidence for the youngsters. One change for us: Aimen Anwer is resting and Ayesha Naseem will make her debut tonight.

    Thailand’s Batting

Thailand gets into play their last match in this T20I world cup tournament and keen to register their first win. Diana Baig will open the attack against Thai women’s team.

    Thailand’s first 90 plus partnership

Thailand scored 3 runs in the first over that too from extras while openers stand without scoring any. Thailand openers plays in control in order to set some descent target at least in their last match. Chantam hit four boundaries in the fourth over, that’s an impressive strike in Anam Amin’s over.

At the end of power play Thailand scored 49 runs without any wicket loss where Chantam scored 25 runs and Boochatham scored 19 runs. And in the next over brings up the 50 run stand. Boochatham strikes boundaries in possible deliveries and lifts team total. After 10 overs Thailand scored 70 runs without any wicket loss that’s an perfect comeback from Thai girls after their continuous loss.

Thai’s first half century in World cup-Achieved by Chantam

Pakistan is in need to break this settled partnership in order slow down the run rate but Thai girls seems strong enough to face the Pakistan girls. But Anam Amin dismissed Boochatham for 44 runs just six runs away from her fifty. Chantam registered her first T20I world cup fifty and becomes the first women to secure a half century for Thailand in a World Cup game.

    Match interrupted due to rain

Not looking good at the moment. Here’s an interesting fact: Pakistan are yet to chase 150 plus totals in T20Is. 15 unsuccessful attempts to be precise. The rain seems to do favor for Pakistan Women’s team. It’s all over! The captains shake hands and game has been abandoned. Both teams will share a point each.

    Captain’s view

Sornnarin Tippoch | Thailand skipper: We had to bat positively today and good to see that aggressive style of batting. We took our time to get used to the conditions and we have had the great opportunity to come here and play with some big teams on the big stage which is very pleasing. The people of Thailand will be happy and cheering and playing cricket is all about that. We will be preparing for the next tournament and hopefully we will come again here.

Javeria Khan | Pakistan skipper: She (Bismah) has had a surgery two days back and the team wishes her a speedy recovery. Today, it (the game) gave us the lesson that in T20s or cricket, no team is bigger or smaller, you have to be on your toes every time. I want to congratulate them (Thailand) for playing such fearless cricket and they have taught us many things today. Except Nida, no bowler was able to execute her plans. Initially Diana bowled well, but whatever challenges we posed they came up with answers and played some brilliant cricket. We will walk away with our heads held high, we beat West Indies and we came close to beating South Africa, but we made crucial mistakes at crucial times and if you want to win the World Cup, team that makes less mistakes wins the tournament. We need to understand how we have to go forward and be critical about ourselves and not stay in denial about what needs to be done. Any team can win this World Cup and it’s a good healthy-match up between most teams now. Thailand has proven that whoever comes for the first time is a real competitor and one shouldn’t take them lightly. Previously we (Pakistan women) weren’t supported this much, but now with the media and their extensive coverage, the girls are getting inspired and they want to play more cricket from all regions and it’s a good sign.
