Warner plays a crucial role in winning the first two ODI matches in the 3 match ODI series. With Australian players’ outranged performance the hosts lifts the ODI series trophy.

“He’s an all-time great in one-day, T20 cricket,” Finch said of Warner. “Any team that he’s not a part of is going to be slightly weaker.

“But we’ve got guys that can step up and really contribute in that role as well.”

Finch also backed under-fire paceman Mitchell Starc to rebound after the left-armer was feasted upon by India’s batsmen in the first two matches of the one-day series.

Australia vs India 2nd ODI match

In the second ODI Aussies won the toss and started the innings confidently. Australian openers Warner and Finch scored 83 and 60 runs for their part. The score again backfired with Steve Smith’s 104 runs off 64 deliveries. In addition to this Maxwell scored an impressive 63 runs off 29 deliveries and remains unbeaten.

India is in need to chase down a target of 389 runs to stay alive in the tournament. Team India scatters the dream of last hope of winning the ODI series by losing the 2nd ODI by 51 runs. With the victory in the 2nd ODI match, Australia bags the ODI series trophy.

David Warner’s possible return

David Warner is expected to make his return in the Test series. The Test series has scheduled to begin from December 17. Cricket Australia announced the replacement player for David Warner in the limited over series against India.

“I think he’s going OK,” the limited-overs skipper told reporters on Tuesday.

“He hasn’t been at his very best and you have to understand that his standards are a lot higher than what you expect from most other people because of how dominant he’s been the last eight, nine years — especially in the white-ball formats.

“There will be some conversations had today about what we can do slightly different, whether it’s a tactical thing when we’re using him through the innings.

“But there’s definitely no panic stations from my point of view.”
