The Indian batter Shubman Gill has mentioned the legendary captain MS Dhoni in an interview during the ongoing England tour of India 2024.
Shubman Gill’s Tribute to MS Dhoni
The young batter Shubman Gill has returned to the scoring ways in the WTC during the home test series against England. He smashed a match-changing century in the 2nd test against England in Vizag.
He smashed 91 runs during the 2nd innings to seal the biggest victory in the third test. The Indian team arrived in Ranchi on February 20 to play in the fourth test, where Gill made a special mention about the legendary captain MS Dhoni at the pre-match conference on Wednesday.
He said the entire nation missed Dhoni but is set to see him in action during the IPL 2024 edition.
“Entire India misses Mahi Bhai,” Shubman Gill on MS Dhoni. “The whole of India misses Mahi bhai a lot. It doesn’t matter where you play, in Ranchi or anywhere else,” said Shubman Gill.
Ranchi has a special connection with cricket which was the native of Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni. Dhoni is one of the most successful captains after leading the side to victory in the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy titles in 2013.
He is the only captain in history to win all three ICC white-ball trophies across the globe. He retired from international cricket in 2020. Dhoni will lead the Chennai Super Kings as they aim to clinch their 6th IPL title.
CSK will be playing in the inaugural match of the IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals on March 22 at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
The IPL 2024 schedule has been the most awaited one as the tournament is set to commence in March. However, the announcement in the schedule has been delayed due to the overlapping of the local election dates in India.
To manage the clash in the dates, BCCI has released only the schedule of the first 15 days. The remaining schedule will be revealed after the announcement of the general election dates.
Coming to the test series, The hosts lead the series with 2-1. India and England will be playing their fourth on February 23 at JSCA International Cricket Stadium.
