    Player of the Match

    Sam Billings | Sydney Thunder

There’s still probably areas we can iron up. Really good win. At one point Ben Duckett was playing brilliantly. Couple of key wickets, couple of key sets – we got right back in the game. Really pleasing. Really positive because we know we’re a better team than tonight. I’m very competitive.

Davey asked a couple of times for the boys to show a bit more energy and intent in the field. We can get a lot better – me included. You see the best teams around the world – they’ve got that intensity every time. Just those small margins can make a lot of difference, especially in tight games. Nothing too serious.

Just good to get the win. Gave myself a chance. I like to play a few balls, get used to the conditions. And actually trying to stay still – it’s something I’ve been working on a lot. Obviously I do move around quite a bit against spin. But certainly against the seam, just standing nice and still and trusting my batswing.

It was good, we needed that, we lost a few wickets but those partnerships in the middle allowed us to motor on at the end. Pretty dopey moment to be honest for me (his lucky escape with the run-out). I didn’t think he’d thrown it. Quite bizarre. Sometimes you just need a bit of luck to go your way. Thankfully it was my night.

It’s such a tight tournament – lot of very good teams. Everyone seems to be beating everyone at the moment. We’ve got a tough game against Renegades in a couple of days at home. Our home support has been fantastic. Looking forward to getting on a bit of a roll now.
