Ashwin joins 500 Test wickets club; Second Indian to achieve the feat

After an impressive performance in England tour of India 2024, the Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin joins the list of elite players to bag 500 Test wickets.

Anil Kumble tops the list with the highest wicket taken by an Indian player in Test wickets. He has a total of 619 runs in 132 matches.

Ravichandran Ashwin bagged his 500th wicket on his 98 Test match which he played against England in February 2024. Kapil Dev stands third with 434 wickets in 131 Test matches.

Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma stand in fourth and fifth position with 417 and 311 wickets in 131 and 103 matches respectively.

Fewest balls to 500 Test wickets 

Ashwin also becomes the second player to bag 500 Test wickets in the fewest balls. He bowled 25714 balls in his Test career to pick 500 wickets.

Glenn McGrath stands first with bagging 500 test wickets on 25528 balls. Anderson stands third on bagging 500 wickets on 28150 balls.

Stuart Broad stands fourth in the list as he bowled 28430 balls to achieve the feat. Walsh stands fifth in the list after bagging 500 wickets in 28833 balls.

Fewest Tests to 500 Test wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin also reached another milestone after bagging 500th Test wicket. He becomes the second player to achieve the feat in the fewest tests he played.

Sri Lankan cricket Muthaiya Muralitharan tops the list as he bagged 500 test wickets on the 87th test match in his career. With Ashwin standing second in the list, Anil Kumble stands third as he achieved the feat in the 105th test match of his career.

Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath stand fourth and fifth in the list after bagging 500 Test wickets in the 108th and 110th Test matches they played in their career respectively.
