    Virat Kohli has shown more faith in fast bowlers than his predecessor MS Dhoni, feels former India pacer Ajit Agarkar. Agarkar said that Dhoni had more faith in slow spinners during his tenure as India skipper, and that is not the case with Kohli.

    “The major difference I see is that MS Dhoni used to depend a lot on the spin bowlers to make his strategies. Virat Kohli, in a slight deviation, has shown more faith in fast bowlers,” Agarkar said during a chat on Star Sports Cricket Connected.

    Agarkar believes because of this reason India has done better in overseas Tests under Kohli’s leadership. “Because of that when India plays overseas Test matches, it has made a lot of difference to the results. The performance has been better and we have been able to compete for more. Probably this was a stark difference because both had a different way of leading, but both got a lot of success,” he further said.

    “Virat Kohli has been a captain for such a long time in all formats and we can see how good the results have been. The methods might be different but if you show faith in your players, then you get good results as a captain,” Agarkar added.

    “Now with VVS taking bath, Dada was the only person left to go the middle. Sourav Ganguly, who was not ready at all for his batting. So someone was giving Dada his shirt, someone his trouser and another person getting his bat. And two players were making him wear his pads,” Laxman further said.

    “In between all this hurry, finally Dada was made to enter the field. And Laxman was coming out smiling from the shower. VVS Bhai, your batting came and went as well without you going onto the pitch. Something like that might have happened for the first time in cricketing history.

    “VVS Laxman might have definitely got a scolding later because Sourav does not like such things at all. But then no one can scold VVS, that is also an interesting thing,” Chopra signed off.

    Talking about the domestic structure in India, he said, “Our domestic structure as compared to the other countries isn’t bad, to be honest. We just need a little bit more continuity as every year we keep on changing the structure.”

    He further added, “I feel the season should start in October with the Ranji Trophy. It should be ideally followed by the Irani Trophy and after that, a T20 tournament like Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy can be put in place as it is the time when the auction happens. A number of franchise people can see the tournament and scout new talent. Finally, finish the season with Vijay Hazare Trophy.”

    “I feel we can get away with Duleep Trophy and it’s about time that we don’t play Duleep Trophy and use that one and a half months to give the players a little more break.”

    After BCCI’s announcement of hosting IPL in UAE National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has finalised its program for the IPL 2020. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has been scheduled to begin from September 19 with its final match on November 10.

    The report further suggests that the NADA will setup five Dope Control Stations in the UAE – one each in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Also, the other two at designated training venues – ICC Academy in Dubai and Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

    NADA director-general, Navin Agarwal, informed that “the dope control officers have been asked to conduct in competition testing only at playing venues. 50 samples of cricketers will be collected during the tournament. Also, apart from urine samples, some blood samples might be collected too and leading Indian stars could be tested, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni”.

    There will be three teams traveling to the UAE, in separate batches. “The first batch will leave in the first week of September. Before their departure, all team members will be tested for Covid-19. Upon their arrival in the UAE, they will be tested again.”

    Virat Kohli’s Team Meet:

    Earlier, RCB skipper Virat Kohli had stressed that One mistake from any player could spoil the entire Indian Premier League.     “I thought we were very well prepared but still we were quite nervous. It was my first auction, and I was sitting there. The owners took a call that this is your baby, your project, you run it, your plan, you go and execute. That has been the thing with KKR ever since I have been involved.

    “Jay and Juhi – they come and sit at the table. But they don’t get involved with making any decisions at the table. We brief them completely, we have discussions and they have their own ideas. Ultimately, they say it is your call. You guys have thought it through more than we can,” Mysore explained.

    “I was sitting there, and I was hoping, and I was saying my prayers and my heart was beating. I was seeing the most familiar faces of other teams and their ownerships and they were all occupying their respective tables. Then I was saying to myself, this is like a warm-up… like a batsman takes a few knock-downs when they come to bat. So, I was thinking to let a few names come to the auctions that we are not interested in and see what happens.

    “Lo and behold, the first name in 2011 auctions Gautam Gambhir – the very first name that came in. It was unbelievable. We were quite determined. We had budgets and circuit break-up pricing in our strategies.

    “My instinct said that it was the right thing to do. Even though it exceeded our circuit break-up because the Kochi team was equally motivated. There was a dog-fight for that. The rest is history,” Mysore signed off.

    After Gambhir left the franchise in 2018, Dinesh Karthik was selected as the skipper of KKR. This year, Karthik will once again drive his team in the UAE as KKR hopes to win their third title.

    “A thorough build-up to the IPL every year often results in the first week of the tournament being a hit and obviously getting lapped up by the viewers. The second week becomes important because the emphasis then is to ensure the same kind of enthusiasm remains because from the third week onwards, teams are already starting to battle for the playoffs and the points table becomes a talking point. So, structuring the second week of the tournament while keeping flexibility in mind is necessary,” BCCI sources said.

    Expected Date:

    The organisers are expecting the schedule to be released sometime this week, after which the match-officials, television crews, commentators, and analysts will start planning their trip.

    “The first schedule was prepared early this year keeping the March-April-May window in mind, but now with the change in destination and the months, there’s an effort to try and schedule as many double-headers from the second week of October onwards so that the afternoon matches are played in better temperatures,” say those in the know.

    ICC Cricket Hall of Fame Full List till 2020

    Indian former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated South Africa`s Jacques Kallis, Australia`s Lisa Sthalekar, and Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas after the three former players got inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

    The Hall of Fame was started by the ICC in 2009, as part of its centenary celebrations. Earlier in the day, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had inducted Kallis, Sthalekar, and Abbas, into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. The ICC Cricket “Hall of Fame” recognises the achievements of the legends of the cricket.

    Eligibility for Hall of fame list

    A player is eligible to be inducted in the fame list only after the mandatory period of 5 years since his /her retirement from international cricket.

    Since 1932 to date just 6 Indians have been included in this list. Sachin Tendulkar, the former master blaster is the latest Indian player who is included in the list of ICC hall of fame in 2019.

    IPL Franchise Kolkata Knight Riders Releases Photos of Their Team Room In Abu Dhabi

    One of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders releases the picture of their team room in Abu Dhabi ahead of IPL 2020. The Kolkata based franchise reached UAE on August 21.

    The 13th edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League is all set to begin from September 16 having its final match on November 10.

    The IPL 2020 was moved out of India due to the rising coronavirus cases in the country. The two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions landed in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday to participate in the 13th edition of the cash-rich league.

    After teaching the hotel in UAE KKR’s official twitter page post the sneak peek of the team room. The twitter quotes as “New city, New #HomeOfTheKnights Sneak-peek into the #KKR Team Room in Abu Dhabi, “KKR’s official handle captioned the pictures.

    IPL 2020 has been decided to play on Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai where they will host 60 games in 53 days, starting next month. This is not the first time that the IPL will be played in the UAE. In 2014, UAE had hosted the T20 league partially due to the general elections in India.

    KKR has roped in Brendon McCullum as their head coach for this season as they look to turn things around in the UAE.

    Mobile Premier League has been officials announced their sponsorship for Kolkata Knight Riders for this year’s IPL. Earlier Nokia plays as its principal sponsor for the team KKR.
