Akhtar denies Sehwag’s Claim on Sledging

Virender Sehwag’s case of having sledged Shoaib Akhtar by letting him know Sachin Tendulkar was his dad was totally made up, said the Pakistan pacer.

Sehwag Conversation with Shoaib Akhtar During the Match:

Sehwag had said at an award show a few years ago that he had reacted to a barrage of sledging from Akhtar by telling him to say those things to Tendulkar, who was at the other end. “Woh tera baap khada hai wo non-striking end pe, uss ko bol woh mar ke dikhayega. Non-striker end pe Tendulkar tha. Next over mai jab usne Tendulkar ko bouncer mara toh usne chakka mara, maine kaha beta beta hota hai aur baap baap hota hai,” Sehwag had said.

    Akhtar Denies Sehwag’s Claim:

In a recent interview, Akhtar said he would not have spared Sehwag and would have beaten him if he had used words like that against him on the field.

“Would he survive after saying something like that to me? Would I leave him? I would beat him up at the ground and then at the hotel. The story has been made up,” Akhtar said.

MS Dhoni Told me ‘Selectors Not Looking at You for 2019 World Cup’, Reveals Yuvraj Singh

    0

Yuvraj Singh has been robust for India in white-ball cricket. He had significant commitments in India winning the T20 World Cup in 2007, and afterward was additionally the Man of the Series for the 2011 World Cup.

In a meeting with News18 he uncovered that it was Virat Kohli who backed him till the end, yet former captain MS Dhoni indicated him the real picture and said that he wasn’t in the plan of things for the 2019 World Cup.

The 2017 West Indies series was the last time Yuvraj had played for India, and a year ago during the World Cup, he declared his retirement. Likewise in 2017, he had made a rebound into international cricket and scored a 150 against England in Cuttack.

Soon thereafter, he scored a fifty in the Champions Trophy as well, yet such exhibitions were not many and inadequate.

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli Supports Yuvi:

“When I made my comeback, Virat Kohli supported me. if he has not backed me then I wouldn’t have made a comeback. But then it was Dhoni who showed me the correct picture about the 2019 World Cup that selectors are not looking at you,” Yuvraj said. “He showed me the real picture. He gave me clarity. He did as much as he could.”

“Till the 2011 World Cup, MS had a lot of confidence in me and used to tell me that ‘you are my main player’,” Yuvraj said. “But after coming back from illness the game changed and a lot of changes happened in the team. So as far as the 2015 World Cup is concerned, you can’t really pinpoint at something. So this is a very personal call.

“So I understood that as a captain sometimes you can’t justify everything because at the end of the day you have to see how the country performs.”

Indian Cricketer Rohit Sharma Replies to Suresh Raina on Calling him “Next MS Dhoni”

Rohit replies to Raina calling him as next Dhoni

After Suresh Raina praised Rohit Sharma as the “next MS Dhoni” a week ago, the 33-year-old India opener has come out and made light of the examinations among him and the Jharkhand dasher.

Raina has the experience of playing under both the players in his vocation, with Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and with Rohit at the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. Drawing matches with Dhoni, Raina depicted India’s constrained overs vice-captain as a leader who will in general back the youngsters and listen to everybody in the changing room.

    Rohit Answers Raina’s Comment:

“I would say he is the next MS Dhoni for the Indian cricket team. He is calm, he likes to listen, he likes to give confidence to the players, and on top of that, he likes to lead from the front,” Raina said on The Super Over Podcast.

On being asked about his former teammate’s comments, Rohit said that Dhoni is one of a kind and ‘nobody can be like him’.

“Yes, I heard about that comment from Suresh Raina. MS Dhoni is one of a kind and nobody can be like him and I believe comparisons should not be made like that. Every individual is different and has his strengths and weaknesses,” Rohit said in a video on Twitter.

Rohit is the best Indian Premier League (IPL) captain with four titles, one more than the former India skipper Dhoni. In 2019, Rohit’s Mumbai Indians crushed Dhoni’s CSK in the final match which changes in favour of Mumbai Indians at the last minute.

Besides IPL, Rohit has also captained India multiple times till now, having an amazing 80% success rate. occasion

Wish to Play Foreign T20 Leagues But Have Not Confirmed My Availability Anywhere Currently: Irfan Pathan

    0
Irfan Pathan interest to play foreign league

Days after a report recommended that former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan is set to highlight in the Lanka Premier League, the cricketer-turned-pundit himself concocted a tweet to uncover that he hasn’t affirmed his accessibility for any T20 association on the planet yet.

Notwithstanding, the 35-year-old, who last played an expert match in February 2019, additionally added that he wishes to play in the T20 alliances around the globe in the future.

“I wish to play T20 leagues around the world in future, but at this stage, I haven’t confirmed my availability in any Leagues,” Irfan Pathan, who has played for teams including Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL, tweeted.

Irfan Pathan resigned from all type of cricket in January this year and has been one of the promoters recommending that BCCI ought to permit its non-contracted players to proceed to play in the unfamiliar classes. Outstandingly, BCCI is the main cricket board on the planet which doesn’t permit its cricketers to highlight in the unfamiliar T20 groups.

    Suresh Raina Feels the Same:

Star cricketers like Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, and Yuvraj Singh are either resigned or not in the slightest degree considered for choice in the national group and this leaves them with very little of cricket to play consistently.

The players have said that the norm of Ranji Trophy has declined with the progression of time and to sharpen some new aptitudes which would assist them with advancing their case for a rebound they ought to be permitted to play in unfamiliar associations and increase understanding.

“There is a different mindset in different countries. Michael Hussey made his debut at the age of 29 for Australia, an Indian player can never make his debut at the age of 30. I think as long as you are fit, you should be available to play for your country.

I would suggest that all those players who are 30 years old and they are not on your radar to play international matches, you should allow them to play in foreign leagues,” Irfan Pathan had earlier said in an Instagram Live chat with Suresh Raina.

BCCI on the other hand had said that “exclusivity is the key”. The board believes that the non-contracted players are able to command good value at the IPL auction because of their exclusivity of not playing in other T20 leagues.

“From the point of view of the board and the interests of Indian cricket, the intent is to ensure a system where the non-contracted players are able to command good value at the IPL auction. Exclusivity is the key,” a BCCI official had earlier said.

“What a huge shame for both the WBBL and WIPL” : Australian Women Cricketers Slams India’s Decision on WT20

Women's BBL and IPL Dates clashes

Some of Australia’s top women’s cricketers Monday blasted a decision by India to schedule its T20 Challenge during the Big Bash League as a “huge shame” and “sad for the game”.

Indian cricket officials on Sunday said the women’s T20 match will take place in the United Arab Emirates, comprising three teams with four matches during the playoff week of the cash-rich and globally popular men’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

That would see it clash with the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), widely considered the top women’s Twenty20 tournament, which is due to be held between October 17 and November 29.

It would effectively mean Indian players will not be available for the WBBL while overseas stars face having to pick between the competitions.

    Alyssa Healy Slams BCCI:

“So during the WBBL… cool,” Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy tweeted sarcastically.

“So the Indian players who’ve already signed wbbl contracts will do what? And all the international marquee players that will be in aus for wbbl? Good luck with it…”

Fellow Australian Jess Jonassen, the world’s top-ranked one-day bowler, was equally bemused, saying “I have no words for this”, while batting stalwart Rachael Haynes said, “If true, it’s a shame”.

“While the game continues to grow, premier domestic competitions do not need to compete against each other,” Haynes added.

    Suzie Bates Too Slams:

Trailblazing former New Zealand captain Suzie Bates echoed similar sentiments.

“What a huge shame for both the WBBL and WIPL competitions there is a clash,” she said.

Both the IPL and T20 Challenge, also known as the women’s IPL, have had to be rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They were due to be played earlier in the year with the new dates finally set after the postponement of the men’s T20 World Cup, which was scheduled to start in Australia in October.

Shahid Afridi Reveals that He Used Sachin Tendulkar’s Bat to Score His Fastest Century

    0
Afridi used Sachin's bat to score his fastest century

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi revealed that during 37-ball century innings he used the bat of Sachin Tendulkar. Afridi scripts this unbelievable record in his second ODI match which he played against Sri Lanka in Nairobi.

In his autobiography, Game Changer, Afridi said that Sachin gave the bat to Waqar Younis for a custom-made replica to be made of it in Sialkot. But before the bat could go for the replica process, it landed in Afridi’s hands when Younis gave it to him just before he went out to bat.

In the match, which was against Sri Lanka in Kenya, Afridi smashed 102 runs off 40 balls which included 11 sixes and six boundaries. It was the first time Afridi got to bat in an innings.

The match against Sri Lanka was the 6th Match of the KCA Centenary Tournament at Nairobi, Kenya, and was played on 4 October 1996.

It was Afridi’s debut series. The allrounder’s carnage helped Pakistan post a total of 371/9 in 50 overs. Chasing the target Sri Lanka got all out for 289 runs and hence lost the match by a margin of 82.

Afridi’s ton was the fastest by any batsman in ODIs till it was shattered by Kiwi allrounder Corey Anderson with a 36-ball hundred against West Indies in 2014. In 2015, AB De Villiers broke Anderson’s record by hitting a century in 31 balls (149 off 44 balls) against West Indies.

In his book, Afridi also revealed that his actual age at the time he scored the record-setting ton was 19 and not 16.

“For the record, I was just nineteen, and not sixteen like they claim. I was born in 1975. So, yes, the authorities stated my age incorrectly,” he said in Game Changer.

However, if we go by Afridi’s birth year then in 1996, when the Karachi-lad achieved the feat, he must be 20.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has made a shocking claim that he turned down a 175,000-pound area contract with Nottinghamshire to battle the war in Kargil.

The Kargil Conflict occurred among May and July 1999 among the Indian and Pakistan army, bringing about the passings of many fighters on the two sides.

In any case, over two decades later, the Rawalpindi Express uncovered that he was happy to leave everything and pass on for his nation.

“People hardly know about this story. I had a 175,000-pound contract with Nottingham. Then in 2002, I had another big contract. I left both when Kargil happened,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by ARY News.

“I stood on the outskirts of Lahore. A general asked me what I’m doing there. I said war is about to start and we’ll die together. I left county [cricket] twice like this and the counties were shocked. I wasn’t concerned about that. I called up my friends in Kashmir and told them I am ready to fight.

“When the planes (from India) came and downed some of our trees, that was a big loss for us. They dropped 6-7 trees and we are really putting a lot of focus on trees now. I was very hurt about this. I was feeling dizzy when I woke up that day and my wife told me to calm down. But until the next day when I saw the news, that continued. I know the inside story of what happened on the next day, I’m from Rawalpindi and I know GHQ.”

In a career spanning over a decade, Shoaib Akhtar picked up more than 400 international wickets and was recognized as one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket.

Reason For the Petition in High Court to Arrest Indian Skipper Virat Kohli and Actress Tamannah

    0

A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court to arrest the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and actress Tamannaah Bhatia. The petition claims that both have been accused of promoting online gambling. The petitioner has also demanded their arrest.

This petition has been filed by a lawyer from Chennai. In this, the petitioner has asked the high court to give directions to ban online gambling. According to him, the prevalence of widespread online gambling is corrupting the youth.

    Reason for the Petition:

“Youngsters are being hooked to this online gambling addiction by the organizers by providing huge cash bonuses to anyone.

“It uses the famous cricket and film personalities including cricketer like Virat Kohli and actress Tamannah who brainwash these young with their powerful appeal to join this game,” the petition states.

“This gambling addiction is more dangerous to the society and violative of Article 21 of the Constitution of India, as it infringes the right to life. Hence this writ petition seeking a ban,” reads the plea.

“In online gambling, the damage is done in a short span, whereas alcohol and cigarettes take about 15 years to harm an individual. They are being lured in to play by celebrities who endorse it using their influence in the public minds,” the petitioner Suryaprakasam told WION.

“Youth begin with pocket money, income and then exhaust family savings, later lend money. When the lender goes to their residence and embarrasses them, they take the extreme step. There are many cases like this in recent times and many more such unfortunate cases will emerge in the coming months when youth are unemployed and idle.”

A child commits suicide due to gabbling

According to the lawyer, the stars who promote such things should be arrested. It is further mentioned in this petition that a child had taken money to gamble on one such app, but when he could not pay the money, he committed suicide.

    Date of Hearing in Court:

It has been argued in the petition that it is having a wrong effect on the youth. It further states that this online gambling app uses cricketer Virat Kohli and actress Tamanna for promotion. The hearing of this case will be held on Tuesday, August 4.

Former Indian Cricketer Rahul Dravid And Former BCCI President N Srinivasan Praises MS Dhoni’s Captaincy And Off-field Behaviour

    0
    Dravid and Srinivasan praises Dhoni

Batting legend Rahul Dravid has ascribed Chennai Super Kings’ reliable altercation the IPL to captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s impulses, game-smarts, and the staggering measure of work that goes off-camera.

N Srinivasan, the former BCCI president and head of India Cements, which owns the CSK franchise, concurred that Dhoni is a man of nature who doesn’t believe in attending team meetings and going over data.

Both were speaking at a webinar organized by the Great Lakes Institute of Management.

“If you look at the success CSK has had, they’ve got really good access to data and they’ve got really good access to people behind the scenes and they’ve run cricket teams at the junior level,” Dravid said at the webinar according to ESPNcricinfo.

The former India captain added, “They understand talent and they’ve obviously got a good scouting process in place. But, what they also have is a captain who really understands instincts.

“So, I mean, look, I know Dhoni quite well and I hope he hasn’t changed, but I know Dhoni is probably not one to look at reams of data and statistics.”

CSK’s Record in IPL So far:

The Super Kings have won the cash-rich competition multiple times — one not as much as Mumbai Indians — and arrived at the knockouts in each of the 10 seasons they have been a piece of.

Srinivasan Praises Dhoni as an outstanding player:

Srinivasan additionally talked about how Dhoni’s sense and judgment added to his group’s prosperity when a great deal of accentuation is set on the information.

Srinivasan additionally reviewed how Dhoni once wouldn’t take “one outstanding player” proposed by the franchise manager as that could have broken the teams union.

“We’re awash with data just now. To give you an example, there are bowling coaches and in a T20 game, they play videos of every batsman whom they’re going to come against and they see how he got out, what’s his strength, what’s his weakness, etc.

“So, MS Dhoni doesn’t attend this, he’s a pure instinct man. The bowling coach, (head coach Stephen) Fleming will be there and everybody will be there, everyone is giving opinions, (but) he’ll get up and go.

“In the context of instinct, he feels that okay he can assess a batsman or player on the field, that’s his judgement. On the other hand, there is so much of data that is available to help a person also analyse. It’s a very difficult line to draw (between data and instinct).”

“There was one outstanding player that we suggested to MS, he said: ‘no sir, he will spoil the team’. The cohesion within the team is important and see in America, franchise-based sport has been there for such a long time,” he said.

“In India, we’re just starting and we’re new to it. But we at India Cements have had a lot of experience running teams at junior levels.”

“Happy to Apologise” : Former BCCI Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar Writes Letter to Apex Council

    0
Sanjay Manjrekar name not included in IPL 2020

Five months after he was removed from the BCCI commentary panel, Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar stated that he would be “happy to apologise” and that the sacking has “shaken my confidence” and was a “big jolt”.

In this communication accessed by The Indian Express, Manjrekar noted that he was told by a BCCI official on the phone that he was sacked because “some players had an issue with me as a commentator”.

The mail was a precursor to another letter the former batsman wrote to Board officials requesting his reinstatement in the commentary panel for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League – most likely to be held in the United Arab Emirates – and promising to abide by the regulations set by the BCCI.

“You are already in receipt of the email I sent to explain my position as a commentator. With the IPL dates announced, bcci.tv will pick its commentary panel soon. I will be happy to work as per the guidelines laid by you. After all, we are working on what is essentially your production. Last time, maybe there was not enough clarity on this issue,” he wrote.

It has been speculated that Manjrekar was removed from the panel as a result of his comment calling Ravindra Jadeja a “bits-and-pieces player” during last year’s ODI World Cup and the subsequent reactions from fans and the player himself were an important trigger in him losing his job.

On July 3 last year, Jadeja had tweeted his reply at Manjrekar’s comments: “Still, I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I am still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea @Sanjaymanjrekar”.

After his half-century in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, Jadeja had gesticulated angrily towards the commentary studio. The official Twitter handle of the ICC posted a video of a post-match discussion involving Manjrekar. “By bits and by pieces, he just ripped me apart today. Bits of pieces of sheer brilliance, he proved me all wrong,” he had said that day.

In his first mail to Board officials, Manjrekar also flagged the perils of being a commentator in these times. “If we are not seen praising the iconic players all the time, the fans of those players tend to assume that we are antagonistic towards the players they worship … Anyone who has followed my career as a commentator would know that I have no malicious agenda against anyone and that my opinions come from a very pure place that I hold sacred. It’s cricket we are talking about, a sport that’s given me and my father so much,” Manjrekar stated. “I was greatly hurt! Especially because this came as a real shock!” he added.

Manjrekar reiterated his willingness to apologise. “So, really, this sacking for whatever reason has shaken my confidence as a professional. If unwittingly, I have offended anyone I would be happy to apologise to the concerned party.”

Manjrekar also brought up the Jadeja issue in great detail in his email to the Apex Council, attaching an audio file of his comments. “You will see how benign it is when you hear it in the right context”. He also wrote, “The player concerned obviously misunderstood this or was perhaps misinformed. By the way, the player and I have since privately made peace over this issue.”

    Sanjay Manjrekar
    Sanjay Manjrekar

He stated that the comment was not made during commentary but in an interview. “Please note this comment was not made by me on Twitter or in commentary, it was in an audio interview to a news agency… that got blown out of proportion. It was made as a part of a long media interview but unfortunately was made into an eye-catching headline by just one website and the player reacted sharply to it on Twitter. This got the issue the traction it did not deserve. ‘Bits-and-pieces’ is a cricketing term commonly used for cricketers who are non-specialists. It is regularly used by commentators to describe certain players and it’s never considered to be demeaning.”

In his email, Manjrekar listed out his standing as a commentator until he was “suddenly not found good enough”. “Until this moment I had been the leading commentator on the BCCI panel for many years fulfilling some of the biggest responsibilities there are in live broadcasting: lead commentator, post-match awards presenter, hosting the toss, doing player interviews and yes, impromptu BCCI functions on the ground too. I am also one of the first Indian commentators that get rostered for the World Cups by the ICC. I did my job with great pride and a 100 percent commitment and suddenly not found to be good enough to be in the panel was a big jolt.”

The right-handed all-rounder Smith expressed that as the IPL in 2014 was held in Dubai, so some of the players have experience of playing there.
