Kolkata Knight Riders Skipper Dinesh Karthik Throw His View on Controversy “Mankad dismissal”

With a month away for Indian Premier League 2020 Mankad dismissal again hit the board whether to use it or not. Though Mankad comes under the rule book many feel the dismissal as “against the spirit of cricket”.

Earlier Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting states that he won’t allow anyone particularly R Ashwin to get benefit from “Mankad dismissal”.

This was in response to Ravichandran Ashwin Mankading Jos Buttler in a match between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals last season. Ravichandran Ashwin will be playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.

In that list, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik has said that he would urge his bowlers to not go in for a Mankad as well.

“I keep saying this. As a captain, I wouldn’t allow my bowler [to do a Mankad]. If my bowler does it, I won’t accept it as a dismissal. Because I feel that [even though] it’s okay, it’s not necessary, our bowlers have the skill levels to do a proper dismissal,” Dinesh Karthik told Cricketnext.

‘The laws around Mankad need to be watertight’. But the KKR captain also said that he wants the rules around the Mankad to be ‘watertight’.

“Rules need to be watertight and there is no question of… it’s either black or white, it’s as simple as that,” he said. “There should be no grey areas for people to use a loophole and find out.”

“I think every time a batsman crosses [the line before the ball is delivered], the bowler should be allowed to create a runout. I don’t think there is any spirit of cricket question that is there in that. Because I feel if a batsman nicks a ball and he doesn’t walk, where is the spirit then?”

“I think you need to be fair. You should take it out of the bowler’s hand and the umpire’s hand. It is either out or a not out, that’s all. There is no question of asking the captain, asking the referee and those kinds of things,” Karthik reiterated.

The cash-rich Indian Premier League is all set to begin from September 16 in UAE with its new sponsor as VIVO pulls out of the current year league due to pressure in India china border.

Saqlain Mushtaq Says “BCCI Didn’t Treat MS Dhoni Well, Deserved a Farewell Game”

    Saqlain Mushtaq on Dhoni's retirement

In India and Pakistan both, there is an immense fan following of the cricketers, and are dealt with like divine beings. But, MS Dhoni’s retirement without a legitimate goodbye match hasn’t gone down well with a portion of the players from Pakistan.

The most recent contestant in the list is Saqlain Mushtaq, who feels that the BCCI didn’t treat him the correct way, and ought to have given him one final match.

“I always say positive things and try not to spread negativity in any way but I think I should say this. This is kind of a defeat of BCCI. They did not treat a big player like him in the right way. The retirement shouldn’t have happened like this. This is coming straight from my heart and I believe millions of his fans feel the same way. I’m really sorry to BCCI that I’m saying this but they didn’t treat Dhoni well, I’m hurt,” said Saqlain in his YouTube channel.

Dhoni unexpectedly announced his retirement on August 15 this year. Saqlain added, “May God bless him in his future endeavors and whatever decisions he makes but there is one regret that I have. I think Dhoni’s every fan will have the same regret. It would’ve been great to see him retire after playing in the India kit for one last time.”

“Glad that he will play in IPL. But his international retirement should have been different. Every cricketer has some dreams, I had that too but because of my injury that didn’t materialize but I believe every cricketer wants to exit the game on a high as he had entered it. I’m sure Dhoni must have had this dream.”

“MS Dhoni you are a gem of a person and real hero, proud of you,” he signed off.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli(Right) with Eoin Morgan

The Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team “will continue to fulfill its FTP commitments”, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has informed the state affiliations and partnered units. In a letter, Ganguly has additionally expressed that the Board will hang tight for the coronavirus circumstance in the nation to improve before beginning the domestic season.

“The BCCI and the Indian cricket team will continue to fulfill its FTP commitments. The senior Indian men’s team will travel to Australia for its series starting in December this year and will come back to the country for a series against England starting in February next year,” Ganguly wrote in his letter, addressed to the presidents and secretaries of all affiliated members of the Board.

The BCCI president also informed that the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence in April. “This (England series) will be followed by IPL 2021 in April.” The BCCI had to delay this year’s IPL because of the pandemic, and the IPL 2020 will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 to November 10.

“We have taken all necessary precautionary measures to make sure that the (upcoming) IPL goes on smoothly,” Ganguly’s letter stated.

India’s Future Series After IPL 2020:

Concerning the Future Tours Program (FTP), the pandemic constrained the BCCI to drop India’s tour to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe that were expected in June and August separately.

Additionally, England’s tour of India for a limited-overs match, booked for September and October, has been delayed to “early 2021”. India will play four Tests in Australia, while the home series against England will have five Tests.

As for domestic cricket, Ganguly’s letter stated: “In the domestic cricket context, we are currently in the offseason and the BCCI is making all efforts to ensure that domestic cricket resumes as and when the conditions permit. The health and safety of players and all other involved in domestic cricket are of utmost importance to BCCI and we are constantly monitoring all aspects.”

The BCCI is also thinking about the tours of the Indian women’s cricket team. “The tours of the senior Indian women’s teams are also under discussion and more details will be shared shortly,” Ganguly wrote.

Alex Carey ‘Disappointed’ to Lose Australia’s Limited-Overs Vice-Captaincy

    0
    why Alex carey lose Australia''s white-ball vice-captaincy

Wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey on Saturday admitted that he is “disappointed” to lose Australia”s white-ball vice-captaincy but added that he understands the decision to go back to a more traditional leadership set-up.

Carey, along with pacer Pat Cummins, had shared the vice-captaincy title in limited-overs cricket since that leadership structure was implemented under then-new coach Justin Langer in 2018.

However, last week skipper Aaron Finch informed that the team would be reverting to a more “streamlined” leadership process and Cummins will be the sole deputy, having been preferred ahead of Carey.

“I’ve had a lot of clarity around the decision. You’re always going to be disappointed with that but I’m also really grateful and thankful for the opportunity I’ve had in that role in the past 24 months,” Carey was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

“I would love to still have the title next to my name but it”s not going to change anything from my end. I’m still going to rock up with a big smile on my face and try really hard around the group. It”s going back to the old model, which has worked in the past,” Carey added.

The 28-year-old gloveman stressed that he is comfortable with the decision and just want to resume playing cricket.

“The decision sits really comfortable with me now. I just want to play cricket for Australia and…if there isn’t a title next to my name, that”s fine,” said.

“I don’t see it as a setback, I see it as a really big opportunity just to go out there and perform my skills,” he added.

Carey said with several senior players in the side, the team is not dependent on just the skipper and vice-captain for leadership.

“Pat Cummins is a fantastic leader and Aaron Finch is as well. Through the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell – there”s so many senior figures and heads around the group that we”re not reliant on just one or two people (to lead).”

Australia is scheduled to tour England for a limited-overs series that will include three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals from 4-16 September.

The tour will see Australia resume action for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic halted cricketing activities all across the globe in mid-March.

“I’m really keen to just play the best cricket I can play. I’m just really excited to go on this trip, it’s been six months (since) we played cricket,” Carey said.

“You never know down the track – I really enjoy captaining the Adelaide Strikers and the Redbacks team in the past, so hopefully there”s more of that when Travis (Head) is playing at Australian level and I”m there (with SA or the Strikers),” Carey added.

Cricket Australia Announces Women’s Squad For ODI & T20I Series Against New Zealand

    0
Australia women's squad for New Zealand match 2020

Cricket Australia on Friday declared the 18-player women’s crew for the T20I and ODI series against New Zealand scheduled to be played in September. The two sides will play three ODIs and three T20Is, with the pined for Rose Bowl Trophy up for grabs during the ODI series.

Australia is the current holder of the Rose Bowl having crushed the White Ferns 3-0 in their last series in 2019.

Speedster Tayla Vlaeminck was unavailable for selection while Ellyse Perry has been named subject to fitness. National Selector Shawn Flegler said: “We’ve selected a slightly larger squad than usual because of a number of COVID-related considerations and, with no matches leading in, players have been picked on performances both for Australia and Australia A over the last 12-to-24 months.”

“Tayla has had a slight setback in her return from the foot injury she suffered ahead of the T20 World Cup which means she’ll miss this series as well as this season’s rebel WBBL tournament. Our initial plans were to get her back for the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand but now that’s been postponed we’ll take a conservative approach with her and give her as much time as she needs to get her body right without the pressure of a timeframe.

“Ellyse is progressing well from a significant hamstring injury and we want to give her every chance to be available for selection, so we’ll continue to monitor her progress over the coming weeks.

“The door has really opened for players like Maitlan (Brown), who joins the squad for the first time, and fellow fast-bowler Belinda (Vakarewa) who has previously represented Australia.

“Belinda only just missed out on T20 World Cup selection while Maitlan has impressed through her time in the national performance squad and Australia A.

“New Zealand always presents a great challenge and this series will be no different. While nothing is guaranteed in the current climate it’s pleasing to be able to prepare for a series like this and thanks must go to all the people working behind the scenes to make it possible,” Flegler added.

    Squad Details:

Squad: Meg Lanning (c), Rachael Haynes, Maitlan Brown, Erin Burns, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry (subject to fitness), Megan Schutt, Molly Strano, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham, Belinda Vakarewa.

After MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina too receives a Tribute letter from Prime Minister of India. Suresh Raina announced his retirement on August 15 followed by Dhoni’s retirement announcement.

Raina made his ODI debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. However, his Test debut came about five years later, in July 2010, against the same opposition.

Suresh Raina played 194 innings and scored 5615 runs in ODI format at a strike rate of 93.50. Suresh Raina is also known as Mr.IPL in which he scored 5368 runs while playing in 193 matches.

raina completes 15 years in international cricket

Prime Minister Letter Reads as Follow:

    Dear Suresh,

On August, you decided to make what would surely have been one of the toughest decisions of your life. I do not want to use the word ‘retirement‘ because you are way too young and energetic to ‘retire. ‘ You are padding up for the next innings of your life, after an extremely fruitful inning on the cricket field.

You have lived and breathed cricket. Your interest in the sport began early in life, in the by-lanes of Muradnagar and subsequently found feet in the playgrounds of Lucknow. There on, what an eventful journey it has been, culminating in the most important honour of representing India – a country you love deeply – in all three forms of the game.

Generations will remember you not only as a fine batsman but also as a very useful bowler who the captain could turn to when the situation demanded. Your fielding was exemplary and inspiring. Some of the best catches in recent international cricket have your distinctive imprint. It would take days to count just the number of runs you have saved by your alertness on the field.

As a batsman, you especially distinguished yourself across all mediums and particularly in the newest form of the game, the T-20 cricket. This is not an easy format. In tune With our times, it requires quick fixes in double-quick time. Again, your promptness and speed were assets for this form.

India can never forget your inspiring role during the 201 1 World Cup, especially during the later matches. I saw you live in action at the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad, during the Quarter Final against Australia. Your anchoring innings had a big role to play in our team’s victory. I can confidently say that most fans will miss seeing your elegant cover drives, one which I was lucky to witness live that day.

Sportspersons are admired not only for their on the field but also off the field. Your fighting spirit can motivate many youngsters. During your cricketing career, you sometimes faced setbacks including injuries but every time you overcame these challenges, thanks to your tenacity.

At the same time, Suresh Raina will always be synonymous with team spirit. You played not for personal glory but for the glory of your team and the glory of India. Your enthusiasm on the field was infectious, and we could all witness that you would be among the first and most animated players to celebrate the fall of the opposing team’s wicket.

Your care and compassion towards society are visible in your numerous community service efforts. You have passionately supported efforts towards women empowerment, Swachh Bharat, and helping the needy. I am glad you are attached to India’s cultural roots and proud of deepening youth’s connect with our glorious ethos as well as value systems.

I am confident you will have an equally fruitful and successful inning in whatever you wish to pursue in the times to come. I do hope you will use this opportunity to spend even more quality time with Priyank, Gracia, and Rio.

Thank you for doing whatever you cm to make India a in sports and constantly inspiring young minds.

    Suresh Raina’s Reply

After a notable gesture from PM Modi retired cricketer Suresh Raina took to Twitter to thank and quotes as “When we play, we give our blood & sweat for the nation. No better appreciation than being loved by the people of this country and even more by the country’s PM. Thank you, @narendramodi Ji, for your words of appreciation & best wishes. I accept them with gratitude. Jai Hind!”

N Srinivasan Reveals How And Why CSK Bags MS Dhoni in 2008 IPL Auction

    0
    Dhoni Srinivasan
    Dhoni and Srinivasan(Former BCCI president)

IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings official N Srinivasan reveals how CSK bagged Dhoni in IPL auction 2008. When BCCI announced that it will host a domestic league under the name of the Indian Premier League for which franchises start to choose their star players.

Franchises choose their players based on their native-like Sachin for Mumbai Yuvraj for Punjab and Sehwag for Delhi. Moreover, players were picked to represent the city they belong to.

“It is a question of arithmetic, at that time Mr. Bindra was there, Punjab wanted Yuvraj to play for them, Delhi wanted (Virender) Sehwag to play for then, Mumbai could not imagine a team without Sachin Tendulkar, how could Sachin play for somebody else.

When it comes to Chennai they don’t have any players like that to lead the team. And it was the time when the young Dhoni lifts the T20 World Cup for India in its inaugural(2007).

And Everyone would notice how Dhoni handles the team under pressure in the final match against Pakistan where India beat Pakistan in a thrilling final over. This also plays a vital role for the CSK franchise to look out for the Young Dhoni.

“Therefore, all of them said they wanted icons, they had to pay the icon 10 percent than the highest-paid player of the team in the auction. So when the bidding went on for Dhoni, I was clear at any price MS Dhoni.

“When it came to USD 1.5 million, I think they realised they would have to pay Sachin USD 1.65 million and Dhoni USD 1.5 million, five million was the purse and sixty percent of the purse would go to these two players. So they stopped and that’s how we got Dhoni because I said I don’t want an icon,” Srinivasan revealed.

CSK’s Achievement in IPL so far:

Dhoni didn’t give the expected result in the beginning but soon after the bond has been increased when Dhoni lifts two consecutive trophies for CSK in 2010 and 2011.

Dhoni-led CSK is the second team to win the most IPL winner title after Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians bags the trophy for the maximum number of 4 times in the 12 edition of IPL series followed by CSK for three times.

And CSK is the only IPL franchise to have the same captain(MS Dhoni) since 2008.

In the 190 matches MS Dhoni has played in the various editions of IPL so far, he has scored 4,432 runs at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 137.85. His best score has been 84 not out in the 2019 edition. He has also had a sound record behind the stumps, with 98 catches and 38 stumpings.

    Cricket South Africa(CSA)

Cricket South Africa on Thursday detailed two positive COVID-19 tests among national team players who were expected to partake in a crew camp occurring this week.

CSA tested 50 players and authorities preceding the camp, which started on Tuesday and runs to Saturday and affirmed two positive cases among the gathering, without naming those tainted.

The camp is focused around team bonding and was organized after CSA went under substantial analysis from some former players who guaranteed there was a culture of racism inside the team.

“There were no replacements made for the two players who tested positive. All those unable to attend the camp will join the proceedings virtually,” CSA said in a statement on Thursday.

Another non-attendant is former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis, because of the imminent birth of his subsequent kid.

Former skipper Graeme Smith, presently CSA Director of Cricket, has denied the allegations from securing racism and says he was ignorant of any such episodes during his 11 years responsible for the side.

South Africa has missed a blend of Test and limited-overs series against India, Sri Lanka, and West Indies because of the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Some of their leading players are contracted to play in the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to start one month from now.

    Graeme Smith Receives Death Threats

Earlier Graeme Smith has said that he alongside others, has been exposed to the enormous measure of abuse and death threat for supporting the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

Graeme Smith reveals he received death threats for supporting the ‘Black Lives Matter’

“It’s been a really challenging experience. All of us have found ourselves in a really heated space. We’ve taken an immense amount of abuse, death threats. It’s been an eye-opening experience. It has shocked me how heated things have got.

“I get that in South Africa we’ve got so many issues. In some ways, it’s felt like we’re bearing the brunt for the government not having delivered on a number of things over the years and the frustration over that.

Modi writes letter to Dhoni on his retirement and Dhoni reply

Honorable Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi writes a letter to MS Dhoni who announced his retirement on August 15. Indian former skippers unexpected move makes the whole cricket fans and players to stun.

In addition to that one of his followers and co-player, Suresh Raina announces his retirement. Both took this decision after reaching Chennai to get part in a practice camp organised by CSK.

Mr. Prime Ministers Letter Reads as Follow:

    Dear Mahendra,

On 15th August, in your trademark unassuming style, you shared a short video that was enough to become a long and passionate discussion point for the entire nation. 130 crore Indians were disappointed but also eternally grateful for all that you have done for Indian cricket in the last decade-and-a-half.

One way to look at your cricketing career is through the prism of statistics. You have been one of the most successful captains, instrumental in taking India to the top of the world charts. Your name will go down in history’ as being one of the world’s batting greats. among the greatest cricketing captains and certainly one of the best wicketkeepers the game has seen.

Your dependability in tough situations and your style of finishing matches, particularly the 2011 World Cup Final, will forever be etched in the public memory for generations.

But, the name Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not be remembered merely for his career statistics or specific match-winning roles. Looking at you as just a sportsperson would be an injustice. The correct way to assess your impact is as a phenomenon!

Rising from humble beginnings in a small town, you burst onto the national scene, made a name for yourself, and most importantly made India proud. Your rise and conduct thereafter gives strength and inspiration to crores of youngsters who like you have not been to cushy schools or colleges, neither do they belong to illustrious families but they have the talent to distinguish themselves at the highest levels.

You have been one of the important illustrations of the spirit of New India, where the family name does not make young people’s destiny but they make their own names and their own destinies.

Where we come from does not matter as long as we know where we are headed — this is the spirit that you have exuded and inspired many youngsters With.

Many of your memorable on-field moments exemplify a particular generation of Indians. This generation of Indians does not hesitate to take risks and back each other’s abilities in even the toughest situations— seen in the way you took risks many a time in backing little known youngsters to deliver in high-pressure situations. The 2007 T-20 World Cup Finals is a perfect example Of this spirit.

This generation of Indians does not lose their nerve in decisive situations; we saw that in many of your innings and games.

Our youth does not lose heart in the face of adversity and. most importantly, are fearless, just like the team you led.

No matter what hairstyle you sported, your calm head remained the same in victory or defeat, which is a very important lesson for every youth.

I would like to also mention your special association towards India’s armed forces. You were most happy being among our army personnel. Your concern towards their welfare has always been remarkable.

I hope Sakshi and Ziva get to spend more time with you. I convey my good wishes to them as well, because Without their sacrifices and support nothing would have been possible. Our youth could also learn from you how to balance professional and personal priorities; I remember seeing a picture of you playing with your cute daughter even as everyone around you was celebrating a victory in a particular tournament! That was vintage MS Dhoni.

Wishing you the very best for your future endeavors.

CSK All-Rounder Suresh Raina Reveals His Secret “Food” To Beat The Heat and Humid in Chennai

    Suresh Raina

The left-handed batsman Suresh Raina, who announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, opened up on his diet routine while playing in extreme conditions at the MA Chidambaram arena in Chennai.

Suresh Raina used to have one of the South Indian’s famous food item Rasam and curd rice to beat the heat while playing in Chennai which is basically very hot in the summertime.

Raina Recalls the Match in IPL 2013:

Raina was discussing his unbeaten 100 off 53 balls against Kings XI Punjab in an IPL 2013 match in Chennai. It was a 4 pm game in top Chennai summer, and a significant part of the pre-coordinate talk encompassed the warmth.

“I watched that inning recently. Everyone was talking about the heat, but you know how MS (Dhoni) is. He doesn’t’ talk all that,” Raina said while talking to Harsha Bhogle.

“There was a lot of humidity there, but I said whenever there is a difficult situation I will be the first person to stand up and say let’s do it.

Raina’s Food Treatment to Beat the Heat:

“Heat is definitely there and if you play in the heat it will be there in the head. You need to just have Rasam rice and Curd rice!

“Because the situation is like that. You can’t have proper food like what we eat at home (in north India) because you have to go with the flow. You have to see the humidity and hydrate yourself. That way I really really planned each and everything because I know how to look after my diet, I know how to be more professional because the game demands that.

“I think rasam rice and curd rice gave me that knock,” he laughed.

Raina also spoke about being called ‘Chinna Thala’ by CSK fans, saying the title was a blessing. He even compared Thala (MS Dhoni) and Chinna Thala to Jay and Veeru from the Hindi movie Sholay.

“I think it’s pure love. It’s a pure blessing and something you cherish for the rest of your life,” he said.

“Thala and Chinna Thala is like Jay and Veeru from Sholay. It’s pure love and blessing. You know how it is in the south… a pure blessing. When we go there we do have a lot of responsibility but at the same time they really really enjoy our cricket. That’s why we play the game like that It’s only because of the fans, they treat us really well, they give us a lot of freedom to express ourselves.

“It’s been a good journey, they’ve (CSK management) been very professional. I like the setup, they know how to look after players and our emotions. The yellow is something I cherish always.”

CSK, three-time IPL champions, came runner up in 2019 in the wake of losing to Mumbai Indians by one run.

Prior, bowling trainer L Balaji had said CSK’s senior cricketers wouldn’t have issues returning to the team in spite of the long break.

“I don’t think it’s going to be that difficult, because all your life you have played this sport. So many years of understanding will come in handy to get back to your best,” Balaji told PTI.

“Experience will definitely be important. It has been proven in big tournaments like IPL.

“Dhoni is always a process backing leader. There is no short cut in his leadership, but he is someone who believes in opportunity and exposure rather than cutting and chopping,” Balaji said.

Jaddu Won’t Be a Part in Chennai Training Camp:

“He has personal commitments,” Kasi Viswanathan, the Super Kings chief executive officer said, explaining Jadeja’s absence. But Jadeja will reach Chennai in time to board the flight to Dubai on August 21. The camp will focus on fitness primarily, along with some cricket training too.

Reason for Jadeja not attending CSK Training camp

Viswanathan said the Tamil Nadu government had allowed kept in touch with the Super Kings to lead the camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, behind closed doors. Bowling trainer L Balaji will be the main individual from the coaching staff present at the camp.

Head trainer Stephen Fleming and collaborator mentor Michael Hussey, are probably going to join the crew in Dubai by August 22 Viswanathan stated.
