Vodafone replaces as a sponsor for cricket Australia after claiming the first position in Test ranking. Cricket Australia’s interim Chief Executive Nick Hockley, has announced Vodafone as the partners for Australia’s Test team and the Women’s Big Bash League for the next three years.
Vodafone Sponsor Cricket Australia:
Australia, the number 1 Test team in the world had a real-estate firm as their partner but decided to terminate their contract after two years. “Vodafone has a long history with cricket and it’s great to reconnect with them,” Hockley told cricket.come.au. “They are very knowledgeable and know their sport”.
“Businesses have been doing it tough, but what’s been incredible and overwhelming is the strength of support and loyalty that our partners have shown us. They’re with us through thick and thin.”
“What better way to start than with the opening international matches of the summer with the CommBank ODI series against New Zealand in late-September, followed by the second standalone WBBL which will feature the best female cricketers from around the world,”says Hockley.
We’re excited to welcome @vodafoneau to the cricket family!

Vodafone will also feature as a partner of the T20 World Cup-winning Australian Women’s Team and the second standalone rebel Women’s Big Bash League, showing the growth in the women’s game over recent years.
Sanjay Manjrekar will not be part of the commentary panel at the upcoming Indian Premier League which is to begin on September 19.
Sanjay Manjrekar Name Not in The List:
According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, The BCCI has finalised a panel of seven Indian commentators for the multi-million dollar league and Manjrekar is not among them.
The seven commentators are Sunil Gavaskar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Murali Kartik, Deep Dasgupta, Rohan Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle, and Anjum Chopra. Dasgupta and Kartik will be stationed at Abu Dhabi, while the rest will be commentating from Sharjah and Dubai.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi will host 21 games each while Sharjah will host 14 matches. The commentators will be further divided into three panels and will be placed in two bubbles at Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively.
Kartik and Dasgupta were scheduled to fly out today for Abu Dhabi but the local authorities relaxed the quarantine period from 14 to seven days. And as a result, the two will now leave on September 10 with the rest of their colleagues.
Manjrekar Pulls Out Of ICC Commentary Panel:
The former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar has been dismissed from the commentary panel recently. Sanjay Manjrekar was part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) commentary panel for many major ICC events ever since he took up the commentary gig post his retirement in 1996.
While Manjrekar is one of the most experienced commentators in the world, the former Mumbai captain has been involved in quite a few controversies over the years.
Meanwhile, apart from a statement, no particular reason has been released by any official stating as to why Sanjay Manjrekar was dropped. He has covered World Cups and many other ICC tournaments and is a mainstay in the commentary teams covering multi-nation cricket tournaments.
The BCCI is likely to make the full schedule of the tournament public today(04/09/2020). The tournament will go on till November 10 and the matches will be played across three venues in UAE—Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

England vs Australia 1st T20I:
Bairstow and Buttler to open the innings. Mitch Starc with the new ball. Starc starts off with a wide. Good recovery from Starc, who has looked a little rusty so far and understandably so. Bairstow punishes a fractionally full delivery outside off by driving it through covers for four. ENG 8/0 after 1 Over.
Ashton Agar, Left-arm orthodox, comes into the attack. Buttler welcomes him with a maximum over long-off. What a shot. Just deposited over mid-off for six. Good start for the Three Lions. He follows it up with a four to long-on. He means business today, does Buttler. And he finishes the over with yet another big hit, this time the ball sails over long-on for six more. 16 off it. ENG 24/0 after 2 Overs.
Buttler displayed his power in the previous over but shows his class against Starc, lacing a four through cover off the back foot quite beautifully and then pinging a wide yorker behind point for four. ENG-35/0 after 3 overs
Pat Cummins with the breakthrough!
Bairstow trudges off for single figures after edging to short third man – who had just been put in that spot by Finch. FOW-43/1 after 4 overs
Funky field set-up by Finch and he has been rewarded – Bairstow, out Caught by Starc!
Kane Richardson the new bowler for Australia. David Malan the new man in England. Gets off the mark with a four pulled off his hips. Malan, often guilty of getting off to slow starts, plays out a few dot balls to end the 5th over.
Cummins bowls the last Powerplay over. Buttler keeps charging. Picks on the slower ball from Cummins and powers a drive for another four. Buttler on 41 off 23 balls at the end of the Powerplay. ENG 55/1 after 6
Adam Zampa, leg spinner, to bowl the 7th, as Finch finds it safe to bowl his spinners again. Agar went for 16 in the only over of spin so far. Does well to counter Buttler, sees him coming down the track and drops his length. Malan gets the one boundary in the over, driven through the covers. England gets to 62/1 after 7. Agar brought back to bowl the 8th.
Ashton Agar is back into the attack. A spin from both ends. WICKET! Agar has got the big breakthrough: Buttler is out caught for 44. Tom Banton, a right-handed bat, and the man in form come to the crease. He opens his account with a single to long-off. End of a successful over. Just three runs and a wicket off it. ENG 65/2 after 8 overs.
An early reverse sweep for a boundary – but it never ceases to amaze. Zampa the bowler struck on this occasion but he recovered well with four dot balls and a single to close out the over. ENG-70/2 after 9 overs
Agar to continue. Agar, you beauty. Australia’s ploy to play two spinners is already reaping benefits: danger man Banton departs for eight and Australia slowly clawing its way back into this contest. Five runs from the over. ENG 75/3 after 10 Overs.
Mitchell Starc is back into the attack. Malan welcomes him with a boundary to deep extra-cover. Starc has struggled with his radar today. In between, Eoin Morgan has joined Malan. Morgan gets off the mark with a boundary: a half-volley is dispatched for four. Starc all over the place at the moment. 11 runs off that over. ENG 86/3 after 11 Overs.
Glenn Maxwell is into the attack. And he strikes in his first over! Eoin Morgan is out for 5. England continues losing their way after a great start. The spinners continue doing the trick for the Australians, helped by some superb work on the field. A great running catches at long-on by Steve Smith this time. Moeen Ali has joined Malan, with England in a spot of bother. ENG 92/4 after 12
Malan slog sweeps Zampa for a six as the 13th over starts. Ends the over with another boundary to square leg. Malan, now on 38, is playing the leading role in this essay for England now. 14 runs come off the 13th over. A welcome big over for England. Maxwell continues to bowl in the 14th. And he gets another wicket! Moeen Ali the one to fall to pressure this time as he gets a top edge that is caught by Zampa. Maxwell’s 2nd wicket now. England 109/5 after 14
Ashton Agar is back into the attack. Meanwhile, Malan moves to 44 with a well-placed boundary. Good recovery from Agar. Just four off the remaining deliveries. Spinners tightening the noose on England in the middle overs. ENG 117/5 after 15 Overs. Agar: 4-0-32-2.
Tom Curran joins Malan at 7. Malan, the lone batsman left standing, gets a boundary in the 15th over, cutting delicately through the gap. Maxwell continues in the 16th over. 5 runs from the over. Maxwell’s golden arm accounting for 2/14 in his three overs so far. ENG 122/5 after 16
50 for Malan – ENG 125/6 after 17
Kane Richardson bowls the 17th over. England, under pressure, as the runs have dried up, are looking to do something out of the ordinary to get runs. Tom Curran tries to play a scoop. Misses. And then he is caught in the deep. Curran is out for 6. Malan gets to his 50 with a single off the last ball. Chris Jordan has joined him at 8.
Huge over! 22 runs come off the 18th over. Zampa, the leg spinner, fails to nail it in this death over. And Malan lays into him. Two sixes to end the over. But just as England looked to be getting on track courtesy Malan, he is OUT. He goes for 66. Steve Smith plucks another great catch. Adil Rashid has joined Jordan with the England innings in a bit of a disorder at the death. ENG 148/7 after 18.2
ENG 162/7 after 20
A superb spell at the death from Kane Richardson. He finishes with figures of 2/13 in 3 overs. Change of pace and yorkers, all on show from him as Rashid and Jordan keep swinging and keep missing.
Cummins bowls the 20th over as England manage to get the score to creep just above 150. Some frantic running between the wickets in the last over. Jordan connects with the last ball. Four to finish! England put up 162/7 in their 20 overs. 163 to win for Australia.
Jofra Archer starts bowling for England. David Warner faces. Finch at the other end. 163 to win. Warner gets off the mark with a single. Finch gets two boundaries to finish the over. Australia are off!
Archer starts off with a short ball. Warner is straightaway off the mark with a single. Finch sees off two dots before collecting two back-to-back boundaries off Archer. Good start to the chase. Nine off the over. AUS 9/0 after 1 Over.
Warner gets a lucky boundary, the ball running to the fine leg fence. Warner gets more lucky runs. Just gets the ball over mid-on to get 2. Ends the over with another streaky four that runs down to fine leg for four. AUS 20/0 after 2 overs
Archer to continue. Warner keeps out an inch-perfect yorker first ball before scoring a boundary through backward square-leg off the next. It is followed by a brace to mid-wicket. Warner takes a single next ball, gets Finch back on strike and the Aussie captain too gets a boundary. 11 off this one as well. AUS 31/0 after 3 Overs.
Change in bowling. Chris Jordan, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack. Good start… Two back-to-back dots with Warner on strike. The left-hander makes up for it with a boundary to third-man off the next delivery. It was proving to be a good recovery from Jordan until that wide off the last ball. The extra delivery costs England four runs as Finch flays a cut past point. AUS 41/0 after 4 Overs.
Another change in bowling. Tom Curran, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack. Dot. Single. Dot. Good start from Tom so far. Three singles to end the over. Four from it in the end. AUS 45/0 after 5 Overs.
Jordan is back into the attack. Finch welcomes him with a boundary. Both openers getting stuck into the English bowlers in the Powerplay. Fifty comes up for Australia with a single. Just the start the visitor would’ve wanted. Another good over – 10 from it. AUS 55/0 after 6 Overs. Australia needs 108 runs in 84 balls
Adil Rashid, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack. Will the England spinners have the same impact as their Australian counterparts? We shall find out soon. The signs are promising… as Rashid comes to the end of a probing first over. Five runs from it. AUS 60/0 after 7 Overs.
Morgan goes to Rashid to bring some sanity in proceedings. And the move works. Rashid draws a stumping appeal off Finch, England go for a Review, but the batsman had his foot in. Just 5 runs off the over. Tom Curran bowls the 8th. Warner and Finch find the gaps in the field against him, with the field pushed back now. AUS 70/0 after 8
Australia have never lost a T20I to England while chasing under 180 👀
Adil Rashid goes for 17 runs in his 2nd over. Nothing working for England today! Finch lays into Rashid in the 9th over. A pull for a six and two hefty drives for four in the over from the Aussie captain. Wood brought back to bowl the 10th over with the match going out of England’s grasp very quickly. Wood ramps up the pace – bowling at 149 kph – winding Warner up with a delivery that crashes into his midriff. Just 2 runs and a wide in the 10th over. AUS 91/0 after 10, need 72 to win in the last 10.
Jofra Archer is back into the attack… A single is followed by a wide. Now, Archer is working up some really good pace but Finch and Warner are still out there, that’s what matters as far as Australia’s concerned. Both batters inching towards their fifty, going neck and neck really. GONE! WICKET against the run of play and it’s that man Archer. Gets Finch out caught and the partnership has been broken. Finch falls for 46. AUS 98/1 after 11 Overs.
First wicket of the innings. Finch falls for 46. He goes for another lofted shot but is caught by Jordan at mid-off. Jofra Archer takes the wicket. Big celebrations from Jordan – something has gone England’s way for the first time in a long while. Steve Smith joins Warner at 3. And gets off to a cracking start himself. Two pulls for fours to start him off on his innings, even as Wood breaches the 150 kph mark. AUS 111/1 after 12 over
Adil Rashid is back into the attack. Good over from the leggie: just four runs from it but Australia wouldn’t mind. The required rate is under 7 and they have a long list of power hitters to follow… AUS 115/1 after 13 Overs.
Moeen Ali, right-arm off break, comes into the attack. Smith has walked out with positive intent: hammers a maximum over long-on. Australia now has the game by the scruff of its neck. Nine runs from that Moeen over. AUS 124/1 after 14 Overs. Australia need 39 runs in 36 balls
Adil Rashid to continue. And he has a wicket! Steven Smith is out caught for 18. Twist in the tale? Surely not but England will celebrate nonetheless. Glenn Maxwell, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease. He is off the mark with a single. GONE! Two in an over for Rashid as Maxwell departs… Three runs and two wickets from that over. AUS 127/3 after 15 Overs. Rashid: 4-0-29-2.
Marcus Stoinis comes to the crease. Jofra Archer is back into the attack. Warner collects a couple off the first ball, before being bowled off the next ball! Whoa! What’s happening? Archer nails the yorker this time and Warner loses his stumps. He falls for 58. Alex Carey joins Stoinis.
It is still Australia’s game to lose but England will feel one more wicket here and they could be in with a serious chance! Brilliant over from Archer. 6 runs and a wicket. AUS 133/4 after 16 Overs. Australia needs 30 runs in 24 balls. Archer: 4-0-33-2
Mark Wood to bowl out. Now Wood gets a wicket, cleans up Carey and England are right back in this match. Oh Australia, what are you doing? Ashton Agar, left handed bat, comes to the crease. Four runs and a wicket from that over. Excellent spells from Archer and Wood after a rather rudderless start. AUS 137/5 after 17 Overs. Wood: 4-0-31-1
Stoinis and Agar to face for Australia. Lots of fielders inside the circle for England now, with the chase suddenly having become an extremely tight one. Both batsmen look to get runs in singles. AUS 144/5 after 18 overs
Jordan bowls the 19th. He digs it in short and bowls on a middle stump line. No width offered. The last boundary was hit in the 14th over! Both batsmen still look to get runs off singles. They’re setting this up for a last over hit-out.
Stoinis misses the cut off the fifth ball. Absolute carnage off the last ball. Jordan goes up in lbw appeal against Stoinis. Aborts the appeal midway to throw at the stumps. Run Out! Stoinis to be on strike for the last over. But he will have a new partner for the last over. AUS 148/6 after 19, need 15 in the last over
Pat Cummins, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease. Stoinis will be on strike. Tom bowls a dot first ball. SIX! What a strike under pressure. Stoinis has heaved that over deep extra cover for six. 9 off 4. But a dot off the very next ball makes it 9 off 3. Stoinis takes a brace off the next ball. Seven off two now. Another two off the penultimate ball! A six and Australia wins and a four takes us to Super Over. You’ve to see it to believe it. He can only manage a couple and England has won!
Australia bottled what could have been an easy win for them for the kind of start David Warner and Aaron Finch Provided.

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle posted a picture of this grouping on social media and asked, “How many of you can get all of them?” WV Raman, part of the India team at the time and in the picture, pointed out the players who were missing. “The missing ones are @sachin_rt and @vinodkambli349,”Raman commented on the post.
Sachin Tendulkar was quick to notice that he was found missing and revealed his whereabouts with a picture where he is seen posing with Kambli, who is holding an umbrella.
The caption in Marathi translated to “We are here.”
When a journalist enquired about the occasion of such an emphatic coming together of stars, Raman recalled the occasion: “The broadcaster wanted to do an AV for the Independence day in 1993. We were leaving to SL around June /July.”
Chennai Super Kings, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh is likely to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Earlier Suresh Raina left to India due to “personal reason” which raise many rumors regarding his absence. Later Raina discloses the actual reason why he left UAE.
Harbhajan Singh Likely to Miss IPL 2020:
Sources in the know of developments, speaking to ANI, said that Harbhajan has not issued any official communication to them and one is expected by tonight or tomorrow. However, the Super Kings camp is preparing for the tournament without the World Cup winner.
“He has not sent in any official communication and that is expected by today evening or tomorrow. But the team management has been told to prepare for the scenario wherein they may miss his services,”the source told ANI.
If Harbhajan Singh misses out on IPL 2020 , Who do you think is at a bigger Loss here ..?
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are planning to prepare their training schedule and are awaiting reports of the final round of COVID-19 tests which was conducted on Thursday(03/09/202). The training schedule will be finalised once the reports come out on Friday(04/09/2020).
Earlier, it was reported that two playing members from the CSK camp – Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad – along with 11 members of the Super Kings contingent had tested positive for COVID-19. However, all other members tested negative for the dreaded virus after another round of testing.
Meanwhile, CSK is the only franchise who are yet to start with their training after getting hit by the virus. Even Raina, who is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history, pulled out citing personal reasons. However, Raina has hinted that he may return after settling his personal issues.
Mumbai Indians bowling specialist Lasith Malinga is replaced with Australian pacer James Pattinson for IPL 2020. After CSK’s Suresh Raina it’s Malinga who requested unavailability for the season for personal reasons and wants to be with family back home in Sri Lanka.
Lasith Malinga replacement:
As soon as the announcement Mumbai Indians (MI) signed Australian speedster James Pattinson as a replacement for Malinga for season 13 of the tournament.
Lasith Malinga will miss this season’s #Dream11IPL with Australian speedster James Pattinson replacing him.
“James is the right fit for us and adds to our pace attack options available at hand especially for the conditions we will play in this season in UAE,” the club said in a statement.
“Lasith is a legend and a pillar of MI’s strength. There is no denying the fact that we will miss Lasith’s cricketing acumen this season. However, we fully understand Lasith’s need to be in Sri Lanka with his family during this time.
Mumbai Indians are founded on the values of ‘One Family’ and for us, the members of our squad and their wellbeing will always hold utmost importance. We welcome James to our One Family.” it added.
Lasith Malinga plays a key role in many matches to move Mumbai Indians towards victory. The Yorker king originally from Sri Lanka plays for Mumbai Indians since 2008.
He became their leading bowler in this format and leading bowler in the competition in terms of wickets taken. Sachin Tendulkar, the ex-Mumbai Indians captain, described Malinga as an important cog in the Indians’ game plan after the retirement of captain Shaun Pollock, who represented the team in the first season.
He won the Purple Cap award (most wickets) in the fourth season of the Indian Premier League with 28 scalps in 16 matches.
IPL 2020 is scheduled to play in UAE from September 19 with finals planned on November 10. After a lot of hurdles, BCCI decides to host the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in UAE.
Why IPL 2020 Hosts by UAE?
Owing to the increase in the COVID-19 pandemic, BCCI pushed to shift the IPL 2020 to UAE. Emirates Cricket Board(ECB) announces the rules and precaution measures to be followed in UAE to play IPL 2020.
According to this, the franchises are restricted to carry a limited number of persons along with the players.
Abu Dhabi Cricket and the Zayed Cricket Stadium are taking all possible precautions to ensure the preparation for the IPL 2020 goes off without a hitch.
Two teams – Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders – are based in the capital city and using the stadium for training and practice purposes.
Precaution measures By UAE:
Workers in full hazmat suits regularly disinfect the area and patrol the site where players have to practice. When one team leaves, the area is fully sprayed before the other is allowed in.
“The protection of the players and staff is paramount,” Matt Boucher, the chief executive of Abu Dhabi Cricket, said.
“There are 16 brand new world-class grass net surfaces here, which is an amazing proposition for us to offer both Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
“We’ve also taken the liberty to enclose a full-size AstroTurf football pitch for all their aerobic fitness training and fielding drills and the ICC-accredited Tolerance Oval.”
The site is seen as an extension of the quarantine zone of the team hotel, such as the level of care taken to ensure the area remains disinfected.
“The whole air bridge facility is completely private and exclusive for team usage. Nobody from outside the permitted team members is allowed inside Zone 1,” said Boucher.
“It is a strictly monitored and completely fenced off single-access quarantine facility. Only players and support staff of the practicing team are allowed inside that site at a certain time.
“We’re extremely grateful to all the relevant parties at the Government of Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Sports Council for allowing our Abu Dhabi hosted teams to use this amazing private practice facility.”
The IPL is set to begin on September 19. However, the schedule for the tournament is yet to be announced.
