Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) superstar and Windies all-rounder Sunil Narine has been reported for a suspect bowling action on Saturday. Narine’s bowling action was reported again at the end of KKR’s thrilling two-run win over the Kings XI Punjab in their IPL 2020 match in Abu Dhabi on October 10.

Report on KKR Spinner Sunil Narine

“The report was made by the on-field umpires [Ulhas Gandhe and Chris Gaffaney] according to the IPL’s Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy,” an IPL statement said.

The statement also added that Sunil Narine would be placed “on the warning list” but would be permitted to bowl unless there was another report against him. If his action is reported again, he would be “suspended from bowling” in the tournament until cleared by the BCCI’s committee that deals with suspect bowling actions.

    KKR’s Statement on Narine’s issue

KKR released a statement on Monday, expressing their surprise over the development. The two-time IPL winners pointed out that the spinner has played 68 games since being last reported in the IPL 2015. KKR also pointed out that they are surprised their spinner’s action was reported in the sixth game of the competition.

“This came as a surprise to the franchise and Mr. Narine, considering he has played over 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and as many as 68 games since 2015. When he was last reported during the IPL season for a suspect action before being subsequently cleared completely by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility,” read the statement from KKR.

“Furthermore, he was playing his 6th game this season, with no concerns expressed formally or informally by the match officials so far,” added the statement.

At the same time, KKR stated that they respect IPL’s decision and working with the authorities regarding the matter.

“Having said this, we are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation being extended by the IPL in expediting this matter.”

Rashid Khan Wife Anushka Sharma? – Reason For Google to Highlight

    0
Google names Anushka Sharma as Rashid Khan wife
Google names Anushka Sharma as Rashid Khan wife

Anushka Sharma names pop out when one searches for Rashid Khan’s wife name in google search engine. RCB and SRH fans get in confusion regarding this bizarre result.

Anushka Sharma ties the knot with Indian skipper Virat Kohli in December 2017 and leads a happy life. Anusha recently announced the news of her pregnancy via Instagram. Anushka Sharma moves to UAE along with Virat Kohli where he leads Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020.

Anushka Sharma as Rashid Khan’s Wife – Confusion

When one searches “Rashid Khan wife” the instant featured and highlighted response is ‘Anushka Sharma’. This search result, however, has been modified several times today itself, but the answer remains the same.

Now, the search engine thinks that Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan is married to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

Anushka Sharma names highlighted while searching for Rashid Khan's wife
Anushka Sharma name highlighted while searching for Rashid Khan’s wife

Reason for Google to name Anushka as Rashid’s wife

One of the possible reasons for this may be from the interaction of Rashid Khan with his fans in an Instagram live session. In that session, a fan questioned him about his favorite Bollywood actresses? To this, Rashid Khan named Anushka Sharma and Priety Zinta as his favorite actress.

And when a lot of websites and pages put their names in conjunction, this appears to have confused the algorithm with the rather startling results.

Google relies on automated systems to determine whether a page or in this case, name, would be a good snippet to highlight. In this case, the featured snippet came from a website that falsely claimed that Rashid is married to Anushka.

    Rashid Khan Married?

In a chat with Azadi Radio, Rashid Khan said, “I will get engaged & married once Afghanistan wins the cricket world.” That resulted in plenty of hilarious responses on Twitter, with many praising the decision of Rashid Khan.

Rishabh Pant Injured, DC Skipper Updates on His Possible Return

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer confirms that Rishabh Pant won’t particiapte in matches for the next one week. Pant faces a hamstring injury recently which puts him under medication.

    Rishabh Pant Injury

Pant injured his leg during the match against Rajasthan Royals on Friday.  Australia’s Alex Carey replaced Pant in Delhi’s playing eleven in the match against Mumbai Indians. DC lost to the defending champions MI and lost the top place in the points table.

Pant played 6 matches for DC so far in IPL 2020 and scored 176 runs with a strike rate of 133.33.

Iyer said the team is still in the dark about the India stumper’s return. “We have no idea – on Rishabh’s availability -, the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

After winning the toss DC elected to bat first and scored 162 runs for 4 wickets. MI chased down the target with two balls to spare and Iyer admitted that they were 10-15 runs short.

“Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different. We really missed out when Stoinis got out, he was hitting the ball really well and also seeing the ball like a football, that was the main error that we did and something that we really need to work on,” he said.

    DC Poor fielding performance

Iyer also admitted the poor fielding performance executed by the DC players in the match against Mumbai Indians.

“Apart from that the effort we put on the field, we could definitely work on that as there were a few misfields and dropped catches as well. Overall they outplayed us in all the departments. We need to work on our mindsets before the next game.”

Shreyas Iyer also highlights that DC still needs to work on certain aspects of the game going forward.

“If we could have squeezed in two more wickets after the powerplay we would have been on top. It is really important for us not to take any team lightly and be positive in our approach. There are still certain elements we have to work and we will use the break to work on that.”

Quinton de Kock | MI: I enjoyed the win at the end of the day. I just kept it simple. I’ve been batting well in the nets, and it was just a matter of doing well in the game. I knew eventually I would get a score, just had to capitalize on the opportunity.

I don’t think it’s getting any cooler, compared to South Africa. We are getting used to the weather, but it does get quite difficult in this heat and humidity.

    MS Dhoni | CSK skipper

Most of the players play together, we play as rivals too, that’s the beauty of IPL. That has allowed us to understand overseas players better. It’s (bio-bubble) the case with all the teams.

The only option you have is spending time in the team room. You can’t meet anyone from the outside, there are fewer distractions also. That’s a good thing in this IPL. It can be harsh, but it’s amazing the fact that you can remain within the team environment.

We need to get points, but desperation is something where you don’t want to be. Desperation pushes you to commit more errors on the field. It’s an important game for us. We have committed a few errors, need to focus on the process.

I have been doing well in the nets, it’s important to replicate it out in the middle. We have one change – Jagadeesan in place of Kedar Jadhav.

    Virat Kohli | RCB skipper

We’ll bat first. We backed our decision last game as well, but we got ourselves into a tough position not having enough partnerships. The wicket is going to get slower and slower. There wasn’t much dew in the last game as well.

It’s fair enough to defend today. We won two times batting first and one convincing win while chasing. When you are playing against quality sides, you need to come out and play good cricket. We (him and Dhoni) have played together for so long, we have a great partnership together. The games (RCB vs CSK) are always competitive.

We have all had mutual respect between us. It’s important to get into some kind of momentum, where the bowlers come in and bowl a certain way. We have a great chance to create it now. It’s an exciting phase we are entering into.

Chris Morris makes his RCB debut. He replaces Moeen Ali and Gurkeerat Singh Mann comes back in for Siraj.

    Playing XI

    Chennai Super Kings(CSK)

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma.

    Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB)

Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal.

    CSK vs RCB Highlights

    Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) Batting

Devdutt Padikkal and Finch get in to lead RCB. CSK bowlers started the innings with impressive bowling. On the 3rd over of the innings, Chahar dismissed Finch and makes a massive blow for RCB.

CSK bowlers restrict RCB to score 36 runs for 1 wicket loss at the end of the powerplay. For a moment the CSK bowlers start to pressure on the RCB batsmen as RCB scored only 65 runs at the end of 10th overs for a wicket loss.

After a back to back wickets from Thakur RCB struggles to score runs. Dangerous batsman ABD walks out without scoring any run adds pressure over RCB. Virat Kohli gets in to the crease to save the team by scoring the much-needed runs.

Shivan Dube makes a perfect partnership with skipper Virat Kohli and drags the team score to 169 runs for 4 wicket loss. While Kohli stands unbeaten while scoring 90 runs off 52 deliveries. RCB skipper makes the magical strike and leads the team to settle in a decent score.

    Chennai Super Kings(CSK) Batting

Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis gets in to lead CSK. A lot of expectation has been placed over this duo’s performance but again fails to show up. At the end of 3rd over du Plessis has been dismissed while scoring 8 runs by Washington Sundar.

Shane Watson dismissed for 14 runs
Shane Watson dismissed for 14 runs

W Sundar dismissed dangerous batsman Watson in his second over of the innings. Somehow Jagadeesan and Rayudu make a partnership that stands for a quite long time. But Navdeep Saini soon dismissed the young Jagadeesan while scoring 33 runs.

Soon CSK skipper MS Dhoni dismissed after giving hope by hitting a massive six. Chahal dismissed Dhoni at his last delivery of the innings. After his dismissal, CSK struggles a lot to make a partnership, and wickets start to fell like a pack of cards.

The most expected batsmen of the CSK fail to show off their performance in this tournament, especially in this match. At the end of the innings, CSK scored 132 runs for 8 wicket loss. Finally, RCB beat CSK by 37 runs.

    Man of the Match

Virat Kohli | RCB: It was one of our most complete performances. We got into a bit of a tricky position in the first half. From there on, we pushed forward. We spoke during the second timeout (with the bat) that 140-150 would be good.

Ended up getting more than that. It was a tricky pitch. Really pleased to get two points. We have back-to-back games coming up, so important to build momentum. It’s about understanding the conditions and respecting the game. Instead of trying to hit every ball into the second tier of the stadium.

Having played so much cricket, especially T20 cricket, I have learned that if you are set at the death, you can capitalize. (Whether the Super Over vs MI helped him) Before that, I was trying to do too much. If you think too much about responsibility, you get burdened. That Super Over where I had to strike, else we would have lost, freed me up.

Training all these days also helped. Yes, he’s (Morris) been really good, gun on the field and three wickets on debut. With him and Gurkeerat, the batting also gets deep. When you get momentum in this format, it can be the difference between finishing at the top or at the bottom.

BCCI Request for Shorter Quarantine Period for India tour of Australia

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly requests Cricket Australia to reduce the quarantine period for the India tour of Australia.

Ganguly Request to cut down the Quarantine period

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the rules of the game, which restarted with the Test series between England and the West Indies in July. Players have to be in quarantine for two weeks and be tested for the virus before they can take the field.

“Queensland health officials are set to make cricket’s most powerful nation adhere to strict national protocols, details of which have delayed Cricket Australia announcing a revised schedule for its $300 million summers,” the daily wrote in its report.

India are keen on a reduced quarantine and wants the players to be allowed to train in a bio-secure bubble instead of being restricted to a hotel room, which, the BCCI fears, can take a toll on the fitness of its players.

Reason for Reduction in Quarantine Period

“We just hope the number of quarantine days gets reduced a bit. Because we don’t want the players to go all that far and sit in hotel rooms for two weeks. It is very, very depressing and disappointing. We are looking at that, the quarantine thing,” Ganguly had said in July.

The report included that the BCCI has recorded an application, mentioning that an all-inclusive playing squad, mentors, uphold staff and families land in Brisbane days after the finals of the ongoing Indian Premier League in the UAE on 10 November, which is under consideration.

“Queensland Health is currently assessing an application received from the Indian cricket team. We will work directly with the team as the assessment progresses,” a QH spokeswoman said.

    India tour of Australia Squad

India are set to make a tour to Australia with a large team containing 23 to 25 playing individuals across designs believing the necessities of the arrangement to be played in bio-bubble in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and the care staff drove by head trainer Ravi Shastri are probably going to have a six-day isolate in Dubai during the business end of the IPL before taking off to Australia.

It is perceived that the different sides will play the white-ball arrangement before the Test with the three-coordinate ODIs in Brisbane (likely 26, 28 and 30 November) , followed by T20s at the Adelaide Oval ( 4, 6, 8 December). The four-coordinate Test series is scheduled to begin on 17 December.

Possible Reason for Lungi Ngidi exclusion in CSK team

Meanwhile, one of the reasons Lungi Ngidi is not getting a place in the playing XI could be the limit of four overseas players. CSK has backed Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis to come good with the bat while Dwayne Bravo has returned after regaining his fitness.

The emergence of Sam Curran as a brilliant all-rounder playing for the first time for the franchise has even kept Imran Tahir out it seems along with Ngidi. It remains to be seen when do these two players get a chance to play in this season.

    Player of the Match

R Ashwin | DC: One of the important thing in this bowling attack is that most bowlers can bowl at any moment. It is sort of a role where you can put your hand up and be brave about it. Credit goes to the backroom staff.

I am in a very good space mentally and physically and it really shows. Really enjoying myself in both those spaces. I just need to take it out to practice once the planning is done and then go out and express myself.

I did use the carrom ball in the powerplay once or twice. It is just about how much you want to use it in the powerplay when you’re ahead of the game. I got a brilliant catch and getting that Jos (Buttler) wicket was important.

But the ball was soaking wet after the powerplay and the sweat didn’t help either. (On his injury) In a lot of positions, my body is taking over psychologically. I just don’t want to land awkwardly and put weight on it. But it is important that I look after myself and not stretch it.
