Hardik Pandya Trolls Dhoni, Ab de Villiers Warns Pandya

    0

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya trolls MS Dhoni on Twitter for getting out in ‘Gully Cricket’ by gully rules. Where Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Ab de Villiers remains him not to mess with “THALA”.

    Hardik Pandya Trolls MS Dhoni

He posted a 20-second video featuring MS Dhoni for Dream11’s latest campaign, where MSD is playing gully cricket with youngsters and hits a brilliant four; but gets out, as the ball directly hits a scooter.

And by gully cricket rules, a direct shot on the scooter is declared out. Pandya took to Twitter and jokingly wrote to MS Dhoni.

AB de Villiers Warns Not to Mess with MSD

Much to Pandya’s surprise, RCB’s attacking batsman AB de Villiers came to MSD’s defence.

ABD shared another 20-second video featuring Pandya where he hits a six, but in turn loses the ball in a gully cricket match, and is asked to spare 20 Rs. for the lost ball. AB de Villiers posted:

Hardik Pandya made his ODI debut under MS Dhoni captaincy. Hardik Pandya is all set to make a comeback post his lengthy injury layoff. Pandya’s form will be crucial for defending champions MI.

All eyes will be set on the screen, as retired Indian skipper, MSD, will be seen in action after a long break. Whereas, AB de Villiers will look forward to helping RCB with the ball to win their first IPL trophy since the league’s inception in tough weather conditions.

Pandya Brothers took a chartered flight to Wish MSD

Hardik Pandya along with his brother Krunal and wife Pankhuri took a chartered flight to Ranchi to be with the ace player on his special day.

Team Yuzvendra Chahal beat Team Virat Kohli in the intra Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in a training game ahead of the Indian Premier League 2020.

    RCB Training Game

While the detailed scores and full teams were not known, Chahal’s team included AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Umesh Yadav, and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed. Virat Kohli, the RCB captain, had the likes of Washington Sundar, Dale Steyn, Mohammed Siraj, and Parthiv Patel with him.

“We looked about matchups, wanted our bowlers to bowl to left and right-handers, and look at some possibilities in terms of partnerships through the order. We wanted each team to have left-arm spinners, off-spinners, and leg-spinners and provide matchups,” explained director of cricket of RCB, Mike Hesson.

“When we gave Yuzi the news that he was going to be captain, his face lit up. He was pumped up. We wanted him as part of our leadership group. He brings a different perspective obviously, looks after the spin bowling group of ours. We just wanted him to think a little bit more about the game.”

The match was played on a sluggish track, with AB de Villiers top scoring for Team Chahal who batted first. De Villiers made 43 (33), opening the batting with Devdutt Padikkal.

Washington Sundar got 2 for 11 in 4 overs while Shahbaz Ahmed got 3/13.

“It was a challenging surface and got out different skills. It certainly exposed some extra things we need to work on. Overall, the conditions were challenging,” said Hesson after the game.

    Adam Zampa Replaces Kane Richardson

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has replaced Australian pacer Kane Richardson with spinner Adam Zampa as they announced the signing of the leg-spinner late on Monday ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 scheduled to kick-start from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Richardson, who was sold to the Bangalore outfit for $533,333 in the IPL auction in December, is expecting his first child to be born during the lucrative T20 tournament.

Zampa will add to Bangalore’s already impressive spin department which consists of the likes of Chahal, Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi, and Moeen Ali.

Both Richardson and Zampa are in the UK as part of Australia’s 21-man squad for three T20I and as many ODIs against England.

IPL 2020 is scheduled to commence from September 19 with the final slated to be held on November 10 in the UAE.

Kohli had said in a recent interview that RCB has the ‘most balanced squad since 2016’ which means de Villiers’s services with the ball might not be required but the former South Africa captain will keep himself ready if his captain wants.

Ab de Villiers Shows Interest in Bowling

The multi-talented de Villiers bowls right-arm medium pace and even has 2 wickets in Test cricket and 7 in one-day internationals.

“I always joke with Virat. I told him two nights ago: ‘Listen, if you need me this year with the ball, I will be there.’ Look, I’ve never been a great bowler, but I love throwing it around and keeping things fresh and just having fun out there,” de Villiers told RCB TV.

    ABD Praises Josh Philippe

Ab de Villiers also praises the young Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua Philippe. He was picked up at his base price of Rs 20 lakh at the IPL 2020 auction in December last year.

Philippe has played 32 T20 matches so far scoring 798 runs at an average of over 33 and a strike rate of over 138 with 7 half-centuries to his name. The 23-year-old right-hander Sydney Sixers opener was the 3rd-highest scorer in the Big Bash League last season with 487 runs from 16 matches.

“We are going to have some world-beaters in this edition, we will have (Aaron) Finch, Moeen Ali, Adam Zampa and Josh Philippe. I am looking forward to connecting with Josh, I see a lot of similarities between the way he plays when I was younger.

“I am excited about Josh, I watched him play for the Sydney Sixers, he takes the new ball on, he is a very talented player, I have heard (Adam) Gilchrist say really some good things about him,” ABD said.

CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has once again tested positive for Covid-19 and is staying away from the CSK bio-bubble till now.

CSK Player Ruturaj Gaikwad Tests As COVID Positive

Gaikwad, along with Deepak Chahar had tested positive for the virus, but the latter has already started his practice, after testing negative. But the CSK management has maintained that he is asymptomatic.

The team has been training for the last 10 days, for their IPL 2020 opener against MI on September 19. “The rest of the team looks in good nick and we should be up for the challenge,” a source told the Times of India. On the other hand, the BCCI team doctor is also yet to test negative for the virus and is in quarantine.

    Deepak Clears the Tests

Earlier, Chahar had cleared all the mandatory tests from the franchise and Board of Control for Cricket in India and will train with the squad from Friday, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said.

“Deepak has all the necessary clearance from the CSK and BCCI side and will start training from today,” Viswanathan was quoted as saying by ANI.

Having completed that now, Chahar will look to make himself fully fit and available for the first match against Mumbai Indians on September 19. Meanwhile, there were reports that CSK could sign Dawid Malan, England’s batsman and the No. 1 ranked T20I batsman, as a replacement for Suresh Raina. Raina had earlier left the team and flew back home for personal reasons.

Viswanathan, though, quashed the rumors saying CSK does not have a slot for a foreign player. “This is news to me as well because our quota of foreign players is already full. So I don’t know how we can have another foreigner in the squad,” he explained.

Former Australia batsman Dean Jones points out the major weakness of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. CSK lands in trouble after their key players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh withdraws from IPL 2020 owing to “Personal Reasons”.

    Dean Jones Analysis of CSK

Still, CSK not yet officials confirmed the replacement players for them, fans are in great eagerness to know about their alternate players.

Apart from this, many sports analysts start to analyze the team’s strengths and weaknesses. In that list, Dean Jones suggests the weakness of the Chennai Super Kings in this year’s IPL.

    CSK
    Chennai Super Kings

Speaking exclusively on Star Sports show Game Plan, Jones said, “Raina’s absence is a major concern this time and he is in the top 5 run-getters in IPL.”

“He is a left-hander and plays spin very well and the weakness for CSK could be that majority of their players are right-handed. They need some left-handers or they could get stuck and particularly if they are playing to leg-spinners and the ball is going away.

“So, whether to go with Sam Curran or Jadeja and Bravo or Tahir. Watson and Dhoni haven’t batted for long. Raina and Harbhajan have gone home as well, so it is up to Fleming and Dhoni, how they gel the team together.”

Albie Morkel Emotional Statement on how CSK misses Raina

Earlier, former all-rounder, Albie Morkel had echoed the same emotion. He said, “He (Raina) has been a run machine for them and electric in the field, so [his absence] will leave a massive gap.”

    Suresh Raina
    Suresh Raina UAE

“They (CSK) will probably have to make a few changes now to cover for him and get the balance of the team right.”

    Morkel Praises CSK skipper

Also, Morkel showered praise on Dhoni. “I enjoyed my time at CSK the most. We had six very successful years, but apart from that the group of players really got along. Dhoni was the cornerstone of our success.

He is someone who leads by example,” he said. “He is obviously very skillful in what he does, but also has the ability to stay calm under immense pressure. Other players reach their ‘breaking points’ before him. He knows that and takes full advantage of that.”

Indian former cricketer MS Dhoni is expected to stun everyone with his impressive and aggressive performance in this year’s IPL. MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15 which turns out to be a piece of shocking news for everyone.

    Dhoni CSK relationship

Though Dhoni retires from International cricket he still shows the love towards the yellow jersey. Yes! CSK officials confirm that Dhoni will play for CSK for at least 3-4 years more.

MS Dhoni holds a unique record of leading the CSK since the inaugural tournament where he also bags three titles. Dhoni’s fans are very much eager to see their THALA to make an entry in IPL with pride.

Not only his fans many former cricketers and sports analyzers too show their love to see MS Dhoni back in the yard. Still, many praise his fitness level and ability to lead the CSK towards the glorious win in this year’s IPL.

    Saba Karim on Dhoni’s Fitness

“He is very fit and I believe he is working very hard on it. Plus he has stopped playing international cricket so there will be less burden on his body,” Saba Karim, another former India wicketkeeper, told AFP.

“Global cricket still needs an icon like MS Dhoni to continue.”

Dhoni’s captaincy began with India winning the inaugural T20 World Cup title in 2007, a success that triggered the birth of the IPL — the world’s most popular and richest cricket league — a year later.

“Dhoni played an instrumental role in kick-starting the IPL because of the way he brought a different dimension to the shorter format of the game because of his aggressive side with the willow,” Karim said.

“Also with his calm exterior behind the stumps.”

Dhoni once hailed as the world’s best finisher, has played 190 IPL matches, scoring 4,432 runs including 23 half-centuries.

An exemplary leader with fast glovework, Dhoni has made Chennai one of IPL’s most loved franchises with almost 200,000 people following the team’s fan club on Twitter.

    Dhoni – Soul of Chennai

Chennai chief executive Kasi Viswanathan says Dhoni remains key to the team’s plans and they expect him to keep playing till the 2022 edition.

Watch What Dhoni Says About Chennai

The team has been under scrutiny after arriving in the UAE last month with two players testing positive for the coronavirus.

Senior batsman Suresh Raina and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh later opted out of the competition.

“I swear if Dhoni pulls out of IPL, there’s no IPL for me this year!” a Twitter user wrote after the withdrawals.

    Aakash Chopra On MS Dhoni

Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra said Dhoni is “the biggest strength of the team and the entire franchise is dependent on him”.

“He is the soul of Chennai Super Kings. As long as he is there, CSK’s heart keeps beating and they move forward. MS Dhoni, the player, and the captain has a great impact,” Chopra said on his YouTube show.

“Dhoni is going to rule the roost once again as a captain, as a batsman.”

Chennai and Dhoni were plunged into controversy in 2015 when the team was banned from the IPL for two years for match-fixing.

But Dhoni and his team — which includes many players aged over 35, including Australia’s Shane Watson and South African Imran Tahir — came back with a bang.

Labeled ‘Dad’s Army’ by the media, Chennai returned to lift the title in 2018 and establish themselves as one of the most consistent teams in IPL history.

“Dhoni is Chennai, Chennai is Dhoni. If Dhoni is doing well. Chennai is doing well,” veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle said on a show.

Indian former legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar loses his temper and slams his bat while playing in the 2010 IPL finals. 2010 IPL finals have been played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.

    Sachin Tendulkar Slams his Bat

After a long brawl, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings lift their maiden title by beating Sachin Tendulkar led Mumbai Indians. Many memorable incidents took place in that match which includes the moment where little master Sachin Tendulkar slams his bat towards the ground.

CSK win the IPL 2010 title
CSK lifts maiden IPL title in 2010

The awkward incident took place when Suresh Raina bowled the 11th over of MI’s innings and Nayar tucked one towards short square leg and set off for a quick single. Tendulkar, however, refused to move and Dhoni got into the act.

The CSK skipper had ample time to aim at the stumps and effected a direct-hit. A visibly upset Tendulkar knew this could turn the tide against Mumbai as he hit the ground with his bat in disgust.

Sachin Tendulkar who is considered as “God of Cricket” won’t overflow with emotion during the match. But the man of inspiration gets emotionally overflown during this incident as every run is crucial in a match while chasing.

    IPL 2010 Finals Match Details

MS Dhoni-led CSK won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 168 runs following an unbeaten 57 off 37 balls by Suresh Raina. A collective bowling effort from the Super Kings restricted Mumbai to just 146/9 in 20 overs, resulting in a one-sided affair.

CSK was the first to bat and with Suresh Raina scoring 57 off 35 balls, they were able to take their total to 168/5. In reply, Tendulkar provided them with a good start once again as he scored 48 but with Mumbai Indians losing wickets at regular intervals, CSK was able to clinch their maiden title.

Shadab Jakati got 2 wickets while Muttiah Muralidharan, Doug Bollinger, and Albie Morkel got one each as MI fell short of the target by 22 runs.

The IPL franchise on Saturday (September 12) shared a video on their official Twitter handle in which Boult can be seen training in full steam. The New Zealand star bowler can be seen training under the watchful eyes of MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene.

During the training session, Boult delivered a ball that hit the middle stump and broke it into two pieces. “Clean Boult! Trent has arrived,” Mumbai Indians captioned the video.

Mumbai Indians Loaded With Best Fast bowlers

Over the years, the Mumbai Indians bowling attack has boasted of several world-class fast bowlers with the most notable name being Lasith Malinga – the most successful bowler in IPL history.

It may have been only his first training session with the four-time T20 IPL champions but Boult’s speed and accuracy was something to get excited about in a game that is normally dominated by the batsmen.

Coach Mahela Jayawardene was certainly impressed as the team will need some fireworks from Boult after key striker bowler Lasith Malinga chose to skip the tournament.

Malinga Pulls Out of IPL 2020

However, the defending champions will be without the services of Malinga this season as he pulled out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons.

Despite losing Malinga, Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack is well-equipped with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan who have performed consistently for the side.

Ajit Agarkar Insist CSK players to maintain Fitness

Indian former cricketer Ajit Agarkar insists Chennai Super Kings(CSK) players to put more effort in maintaining their fitness level. He also states that after losing their two key players before the tournament CSK would face difficulty in seeking replacement players once the squad is set.

    CSK’s Back to Back Trouble

Besides Raina and Harbhajan pulling out of the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons, 13 members of CSK’s squad – including two players – tested positive for Covid-19, and even though 11 of them have recovered, one of the players, Ruturaj Gaikwad is to undergo fresh Covid-19 tests and may miss out of the team’s first two games of the season.

Suresh Raina Replacement in IPL 2020

After Suresh Raina withdraws from IPL 2020 the fans start to predict the replacement player for his position. Many hinted that No.1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan likely to replace Suresh Raina in the current IPL version.

Still, the replacement for Raina and Harbhajan Singh has not yet officially discussed but fans start to predict the CSK’s move. Fans are in great expectation from the three-time trophy winners after CSK skipper MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket.

Chahar – The Belief of CSK

After this, the lights start to fell over Deepak Chahar who made his debut for India after his outranged performance in IPL 2018. Even though Chahar has resumed training, Ajit Agarkar, the former India quick is rightly concerned about the fast bowler’s fitness, given the time he’s had to prepare.

    Ajit Agarkar on Chahar

In December of last year, Chahar aggravated a back injury, a stress fracture, and was ruled out till April this year, which is why Agarkar seems all the more concerned about his fitness. The ex-India all-rounder reckons that since MS Dhoni relies on him a lot, Chahar’s role and fitness become all the more important.

    Deepak Chahar
    Deepak Chahar

“As far as Chahar is concerned, I know Dhoni depends on him a lot to start with the new ball or bowls him upfront, but when you have not played cricket for as long as all these players have, plus he has had this extra quarantine because of turning positive might have less preparation time,” Ajit Agarkar said on the latest episode of Star Sports’ Cricket Connected chat show.

“But hopefully, the fitness levels are there, it’s about getting the skills right and getting some sort of bowling into your legs while they have some practice games, he’s probably going to be ready.”
