    Captains View

    KL Rahul | KXIP Skipper

We will bowl first. Just want to chase, like to see a target on the board, and pace our innings accordingly. We have seen that in the last 3-4 games, hopefully, the dew factor favours us in the second innings.

Winning gives a lot of confidence to the group, you see a lot more people smiling, it makes them keep performing better and better. The mood in the camp has always been good but obviously getting a few wins under the belt helps as well.

The back-room staff has been phenomenal right from even the tournament started. No changes to our team.

    Eoin Morgan | KKR Skipper

We would have bowled as well, pretty much for the same reasons. There’s a bit of dew. We produced our best performance against DC, played the way we wanted to play.

Our fate is still in our hands, that’s good. We have depended a lot on match-ups, it works at times, it doesn’t at times. Andre Russell is unfortunately still not fit, so the same team.

    Playing XI

    Kings XI Punjab(KXIP)

KL Rahul(w/c), Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Shami put an end to Gill’s wonderful innings by dismissing him for 57 runs. Jordan with an excellent final over restrict KKR to score 149 runs for 9 wicket loss.

    Man of the match

    Chris Gayle | KXIP

I have been doing some off the field training with the trainer when I wasn’t playing. I am feeling good, hitting the gym (laughs). You have that good feeling about yourself and about the team, capitalizing on it as much as possible. We are happy now, but still a long way to go. It was important to assess the conditions as quickly as possible.

They had two very good spinners, it was about making the adjustment as quickly as possible. Once you get the first boundary going, I was always going to get into the zone. Tried to hit as straight as possible and it paid off for me today which was very good and it eased the pressure off Mandeep. He batted superbly and it was a great partnership.

Sunil has got me out so many times. He’s the best spinner in the world. When you get Sunil Narine on a pitch where it’s not turning that much, you got to make the best use of it and that’s what I did today. I could actually take chances off him because the wicket wasn’t suitable for him. I cashed in on that.

The last game, we told that we wanted to win it for him (Mandeep). It’s so beautiful for him to stand out today, look up to the sky, his dad his watching him, really happy for him. And my dad, I love you too. We needed some sort of momentum to get that will power and the feeling that we can do it.

Today the coach asked the senior players to step up and win games for the team. Glad that myself and Mandeep put our hands up. The youngsters in the team are saying ‘Don’t retire.’ That was Mandeep.

Rishabh Pant May Not be the Part of India Tour of Australia

    Rishabh Pant

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is on the verge to miss India’s tour of Australia. After Dhoni’s retirement announcement this is the first Australian tour for India. In the absence of Dhoni, the selection committee is in need to pick the best wicketkeeper-batsman who could portray MSD in all the way.

Rishabh Pant may miss Australia Tour

One of the major reasons for his exclusion may be due to his weight. Fitness plays a major role in games like cricket where players need to qualify the YO-YO test in order to get part in the squad.

    Rishabh Pant
    Rishabh Pant

Currently, the process does not compromise on the yo-yo test and that is where the problem lies for Pant. The source also said that the selectors will now speak to trainer Nick Webb before taking the call

“The Indian team fitness trainer had shared his perspective on Pant some days ago and we believe he’s overweight. Regardless of what’s obvious on the field, the BCCI and the selectors will have to take the fitness report on Pant into consideration before they can pick him. The selectors need to speak to trainer Nick Webb before taking the call,” a source told.

    Option for Dhoni’s replacement

With KL Rahul in top-form, he could be the one backed to do the wicketkeeping duties in the limited-overs series in Australia. With Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan impressing in the ongoing IPL, they could also be in the reckoning.

Pant has been in poor form amassing 217 runs in eight matches at an average of 31.00 and a surprisingly low strike-rate of 117.29. He is yet to get a fifty-plus score as well. Not just his batting, he has also been bashed on social media for his shoddy keeping skills. All in all, it has thus far been a season to forget for Pant.

BCCI Updates on Squad Selection for India Tour of Australia

After BCCI confirmed India tour of Australia the selection committee is in the urge to organize a meeting to announce the squad. This will be the first major meeting for the new selection committee led by Sunil Joshi.

Selection of India Squad for Australia Tour

A BCCI source in the know of developments said that the squads will be picked after assessing all the injury-related updates.

“Yes, Joshi and the team will sit down to pick the squads on Monday. It will be interesting not just because it is a long tour and the bio-bubble regulations have to be kept in mind to ensure there are enough replacements ready to jump in if needed, but also there are a few injury issues that need to be considered, especially in the bowling department,” the source said.

    India tour of Australia
    Indian Test cricket team

In fact, keeping the quarantine regulations in mind, Virat Kohli and boys could be seen playing the four Test series against the Aussies across just two venues — Adelaide and Sydney. Sources in the know said that the teams may be forced to play the four Tests in the two venues.

“The original plan obviously goes Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. But if there are coronavirus-related issues, we may look at playing the four Tests across two venues rather than four. In such a scenario, we look at Adelaide and Sydney,” the source pointed.

    Bio-Secure bubble in Austalia?

The BCCI has already made it clear that the whole unit will be first undergoing quarantine in a bio-secure bubble in the UAE before heading to Australia. In fact, the Test players are set to come in once the national selectors announce the squad.

Players for the three formats — Tests, ODIs and T20Is — will travel together as that will help maintain the bubble. Commenting on the upcoming series, India`s limited-overs opener Shikhar Dhawan recently said that he is confident of doing well Down Under.

“Will think about it when the time comes. 10-15 minutes are needed to think about it. When you are experienced, you have gone and done well, you have that confidence in you. I am confident I will go and do well there,” he told ANI on Friday.

    Man of the Match

    Ben Stokes | RR

Sort of bittersweet to be honest – it took so long to get one for the team. I would have preferred to get this form two or three games before when we weren’t relying on other results to get us through to the qualifiers. It’s always nice to get back to form.

We needed a result from today, so – it’s a good victory. Training yesterday was the best I have had for the full time I have been here. Came into the game with a lot more confidence than the other games. Nice to spend some time out in the middle and finish the game off.

The ball was coming on nicely – be it short or full. It was hard when they dug it into the wicket. We got ourselves into a great position by putting the pressure back on to every bowler who came on.

They have obviously got Bumrah, which we managed to score probably a lot freer than we thought we’d be able to. It’s a bit difficult at the moment, things are a bit tough back at home, hopefully, this will give them some happiness.

Toss Details: RCB won the toss and choose to bat

We will bat first. It’s pretty dry, rough. It’s interesting when the weather was hot the pitches weren’t playing well. The temperatures have dropped now but it’s slowing down. Moeen Ali replaces Isuru Udana as a spinner all-rounder, just one change. This green gesture is special for RCB, have quite a few good memories in this jersey.

    MS Dhoni | CSK skipper

We would have loved to bat first as well, same reason, it’s a used wicket. Mathematically we still have a chance, but you have to think about how we have done in this season. 4-5 games prior we just took one game at a time and not worry about the points table.

If we win it will take care of itself. We are looking at faces who haven’t got chances. Santner, Monu come in for Josh and Shardul.

It feels good, and to win the game for the team and stay not-out till the end more importantly feels better than the personal milestone. It was tough for me, quarantining for a lot more days compared to the other guys. Everyone was with me – my friends, family.

I was practicing well and I knew one good knock was just around the corner. Unfortunately just got out in three matches, but the management supported me including Mahi Bhai. The wicket was slow. I was proactive out there, calculating which bowler to target and whom to not, and it worked out well for me.

We’re going to have a bowl first. I think the last game proved that a little bit of dew came towards the end. Towards the back end, there was a bit of pace on the wicket.

Each game presents a new challenge, these guys are on a roll and it was nice for us as well to win the last game and get some momentum. We have spoken a lot about our middle order and it was nice to see the guys play without risk in the last game. Khaleel Ahmed comes in for Nadeem.

    KL Rahul | KXIP skipper

I would’ve liked to bowl as well. We’ve batted second in the last few games which we’ve won. The wicket shouldn’t change much, it looks good. Winning obviously gives the group a lot of confidence especially when it comes against the top three teams.

Different people have put their hands up in all three games which was pleasing. We had to win each game in the second half and we’re taking it one game at a time. Chris has been a big matchwinner, he has come good and brings calm and a winning spirit into the dressing room.

He keeps the mood of the dressing room very light and the boys love playing with him. It has been different people in different games, the bowling has come good as well. Maxwell coming good in the last game gives confidence to the group.

Hopefully, we can play aggressive cricket. Two changes – Mayank Agarwal and Jimmy Neesham miss out and Mandeep Singh and Chris Jordan come in.

Feel great, proud of the team. We had a tough start, but we kept the belief. It’s part and parcel of life to miss a few. The coaches and the teams are trying their best to get the best combination, to win four in a row is really pleasing.

Arshdeep backed his skills and it’s come off. I just tried to support him to make it clear for him. I just tried to bowl a quiet over to give Arshdeep as much as I could to defend.

     Man of the Match

    Varun Chakravarthy | KKR

This is a surreal moment for me because I didn’t get wickets in the last few games, I wanted to get one or two wickets today, but I ended up with five. I enjoyed Shreyas Iyer’s wicket the most.

I was told I would be bowling from the shorter end, so I had to attack the stumps. Want to thank my mother, Hema Malini, father Vinod Chakravarthy, and my fiancee Neha, the team physios, DK bhai, and Abhishek Nayar for their support.

I pretty much started my spin bowling in 2018, that’s when I got my breakthrough in TNPL, it’s been high and lows – last year, I didn’t get many chances and I injured myself, I’m grateful for making a comeback this year.

I have been working hard, but the motivation and faith have come from a lot of people around me. Around 2015, when I was not making a lot of money (the switch from being an architect to becoming a cricketer), was freelancing, and wasn’t able to meet my needs, I thought I would do something different, that’s when I turned to cricket. I still do it, I like that as well (being an architect).

King Kohli also overcomes Sachin’s record of scoring the same in 254 innings. Kohli who plays aggressively is considered as the only player who could beat Sachin Tendulkar‘s 100 centuries.

Since his debut in 2008, Kohli had shown spark in his limited-overs game but it was in 2012 that it seemed that he belonged to another level. Since then, Kohli hasn’t looked back and kept on etching his name in new record books.

He is also the only batsman with 50 plus average in all formats. Kohli now has 11867 runs in ODIs at an average of 59.33. He has 43 tons and 58 half-centuries. He is just seven centuries short of becoming the first batsman on the planet to score 50 ODI tons.

Kohli is also the fastest to 20,000 international runs. Meanwhile has also registered 1000 plus ODI runs in a calendar year for six years.

(2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017 & 2018).Looking at the way he is playing, many people are already touting him to overtake Sachin Tendulkar by the time he hangs his boots.
