Former India batsman Yuvraj Singh has been included in Punjab’s 30-man probable squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, according to TOI. The players will have a preparatory camp from December 18 in Ludhiana.

Yuvraj Singh set to play in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Yuvi has already been hitting the nets with his teammates at the IS Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Yuvraj was asked to come out of retirement by PCA secretary Puneet Bali. So that he can guide the youngsters in the team.

“I enjoyed spending time with these youngsters, and talking to them about various aspects of the game, I realised that they were able to pick up various things that I was telling them,” Yuvraj had told Cricbuzz in September.

“I had to get into the nets to show them a few other elements, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was hitting the ball even though I hadn’t held a bat for a really long time.

Yuvraj also states “I also trained for those two months, and then I started to bat in the off-season camp. I made runs in some of the practice matches. Mr. Puneet Bali, the secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association, approached me after one of the sessions and asked me if I would reconsider coming out of retirement.”

Yuvraj Singh interest to play in international league
    Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj has sought permission from BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah to reverse his retirement.

“Initially, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to take up the offer. I was done with domestic cricket, though I did want to continue to play in other domestic franchise-based leagues worldwide if I got permission from the BCCI.

“But I also couldn’t ignore Mr. Bali’s request. I gave it a lot of thought, for nearly three or four weeks. It was almost as if I didn’t even have to make a conscious decision in the end.

“The motivation is to help Punjab win championships. Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), myself, we have won tournaments. But we haven’t done it together for Punjab, so that was a big factor in my final call.”

Didn’t want to get another duck and just wanted to take it deep. Have been working with Ponting to clear the boundary. Being completely honest when you lose a couple of wickets in the powerplay you get rattled, but we pride ourselves on being calm. There obviously were four points to grab, but great to get three.

Finch Warns Australia to look After Kohli Ahead of Test Series Against India

Aaron Finch warns Australia to not to underestimate Virat Kohli ahead of Test series. The four match test series is set to start from December 17 in which Kohli will return to India after the completion of 1st Test match.

Finch warns Australia to look after Kohli

Ahead of the Pink-Ball Test at Adelaide Oval, Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch, who is not the part of red-ball team, warned Aussie bowlers to have measured and balanced approach for Virat Kohli. Finch warns Australia players to not to under estimate his aggression and also to look after Kohli in the 1st test match.

    Virat Kohli
    Virat Kohli

Finch feels the Indian captain can be ruthless on an opposition if he gets up and about in the game.

“I think there will be times when things boil over and when you have got strong characters on either team that’s going to come to a head at some point,” Finch was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald. “(But) there is a fine balance there, isn’t there? You don’t want him (Kohli) to get up and about in the contest. When he does, he can be ruthless on an opposition.”

Finch on playing under Kohli’s captaincy

Aaron Finch, who played under Kohli’s captaincy for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020, said the 32-year-old is a bit more relaxed now and he never focused more on the opposition than his own team.

    "<yoastmark

“I think the change is in the way he goes about it now. I think as a person he is probably a bit more relaxed out on the field and understands the tempo of the game. What really surprised me was how, he obviously does a lot of planning and preparation himself, and into the opposition, but he never focused more on the opposition than his own team,” Finch said.

The Aussie batsman further talked about Kohli’s approach towards his player during the IPL and said it was great to see the relaxed side of the Indian captain.

“At Bangalore, he was always confident in the XI players that were picked and knew that if you played well, you had every chance of winning. I was really surprised by how confident he was in everyone, he had a lot of time for everyone. He was great around the group, a lot more relaxed. I had never played with him, I had only played against him,” he said.

“We have had some great series where he has been on another level as a player but he has been right up and about in terms of being very vocal out in the middle. It was great to see that (relaxed) side of him,” Finch concluded.

Meanwhile, Kohli will return to India after the opening Test as he has been granted the paternity leave for the birth of his child. After his departure, Ajinkya Rahane is expected to lead the team in the remaining three Tests.

Not (reflected on the innings) at the moment. Obviously what happened in the middle is still unbelievable. That bonus point makes things interesting. It is a nice team effort. I did a lot of work with Simon Katich. I had a good time with RCB, pretty special to mix with Kohli, AB, and Finch. It is great to get our first win.

In the Australia tour, India lost the ODI series trophy. And lifts the T20I trophy by beating Australia in 2-1 format.

Rohit Sharma Return to Australia tour

After clearing the fitness test in National Cricket Academy Indian opener Rohit Sharma set to fly Australia to get part in the Test series.

BCCI announcement read as “Team India batsman Mr. Rohit Sharma has completed his rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and is now clinically fit.

He has been rehabilitating and training at NCA since 19th November following a high-grade left hamstring injury suffered during the Indian Premier League (IPL).”

“The NCA medical Team was satisfied with the physical fitness of Mr. Sharma after assessing him on different metrics that tested his skills related to batting, fielding, and running between the wickets.

Mr. Sharma’s physical fitness has been satisfactory, however, he will be required to continue work on his endurance.”

“He has been given a detailed program to follow for the duration of the two weeks he will be quarantined for. He will be reassessed by the Team India medical team post his quarantine to establish his fitness status and a call on his participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be taken accordingly.”

Veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has been dropped for the Twenty20(T20I) series against Pakistan.

Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have been recalled in the New Zealand squad. This duo was rested for last month’s series against West Indies.

Ross Taylor dropped from T20I Squad vs Pakistan

“Ross has done a great job for us over the years,” Larsen said.

Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway, who featured in a Twenty20 world-record 181 stand for the third wicket against the West Indies last month, have retained their places in the side leaving no room for the 36-year-old Taylor.

    Ross Taylor
    Ross Taylor

“He has been very consistent in that number five role but what Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway have done against West Indies was compelling.

“It’s the brand of Twenty20 cricket that we want to move forward with.”

Larsen added, however, that it was not the end of the road for Taylor in the shortest form of the game and that he expected the 36-year-old would “fight” to get his place back in the squad.

Larsen added that New Zealand vs Pakistan series was important in terms of helping finalise their thinking for next year’s Twenty20 World Cup in India.

“We have still got the Australia series (from late February) and I would like to think when that does roll around we are getting pretty close to where we are just fine-tuning,” he added.

“We still have a little bit of information to gather over the Pakistan series.”

Kane Williamson returns to T20I squad

Williamson’s inclusion for the second and third match only, however, was conditional on the birth of his first child, which had seen him withdraw from the ongoing second test against West Indies in Wellington.

    Kane Williamson
    Kane Williamson

Mitchell Santner would captain the side for the first match. While Williamson potentially returning for the other two games on Dec. 20 in Hamilton and Dec. 22 in Napier.

“The pressure was real. I’m a tough player, and I didn’t know I could actually feel what happened during this year’s IPL. And I just wanted everything to go quickly behind me,” the 32-year-old said.

He also added that the feeling of coming back from one bio-bubble to another had taken its toll on him. Living in such extended bio bubble environments gave him a prison-like feeling and that’s the reason why he took some time off in Dubai after the IPL 2020 concluded.

“I get out of the bubble. I go to Dubai, have a good time, drink, party, loosen myself and I feel alive,” he said.

Meanwhile, Russell having initially turned down the offer to tour New Zealand is currently playing for the Colombo Kings in Lanka Premier League 2020.

The Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf is set to return to Melbourne Stars in January to play BBL10. Rauf’s return to the Stars setup was made possible after South Africa confirmed their dates for their first tour of Pakistan since 2007.

Rauf is currently with the Pakistan squad in New Zealand where the team is set to play three T20Is and two Test matches.

    Haris Rauf returns to BBL10

Rauf, who made his debut for Pakistan earlier this year, represented Stars in the previous season and took 20 wickets, which included a hat-trick against Sydney Thunder and a fifer against Hobart Hurricanes.

“I’m very happy that I can come back to the Melbourne Stars this season and play at the MCG again,” Rauf said. “It was an unbelievable journey last season and changed my life in so many ways. The Stars fans were very supportive of me and I can’t wait to play in front of them again. The support of all the Pakistan community in Melbourne was fantastic and hopefully, we can put in some big performances this season,” he added.

Melbourne Stars head coach on Rauf’s return

The 27-year-old pacer will become the third overseas player after Andre Fletcher (who came in as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow) and Nicholas Pooran to join the team. He will join the team in January 2021 and remain with them till early February.

Rauf is expected to arrive in early January and be available until the start of February. Melbourne Stars head coach David Hussey welcomed Rauf’s return.”Haris was one of the best stories of last season and made an incredible contribution for us. His energy was fantastic for the team and we’re really pleased to have him coming back. Haris gives us another dimension and threat in our bowling attack with his raw pace,” Hussey said.

    Man of the Match

    Nathan Coulter-Nile | (3.5-0-10-4, two run-outs)

It was nice to win, though I was a little nervous when we start batting, and I was surprised we chose to bowl. It wasn’t a 124 wicket but it was harder to score than we thought, I had no idea what the plans were, just did what I was told. Nice to get the points, any points but especially the bonus point for being ahead.
