Stand-in skipper Rahane praises Gill and Siraj for the victory in 2nd test vs Australia

Post the marvelous victory in the 2nd test vs Australia Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane praises Siraj and Gill. After facing a loss in the 1st test vs Australia, India beat the Aussies by 8 wickets and equal the series as 1-1.

The target of 70 was never a big one but for a team that was bowled out for its all-time lowest score of 36 only 10 days back, one can’t fault them if that played at the back of their minds. Shubman Gill (35 not out) and skipper Rahane (27 not out) knocked off the runs in 15.5 overs to complete the victory.

    Rahane Praises Siraj and Gill

Talking about the historic win against Australia, stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane hailed the debutants Shubman Gill and Mohd Siraj, “Really proud of all the players. Played really well.

Want to give credit to the debutants Siraj and Gill, the character they showed after the Adelaide loss was great to see. The character was important for us, especially after losing Umesh in the second innings.”

“That (five-bowler plan) worked well for us nicely. We were thinking of having an all-rounder and Jadeja has been brilliant for us. Shubman, we all know his First-class career and in this game, he has shown the intent to play shots at this level. Has shown composure.”

Rahane, who led the team from the front with his first-innings ton, also said,”Siraj has shown that he can bowl with discipline. It’s really difficult for debutants to bowl with discipline but that’s where I think the First-class experience comes in handy. The talk was all about showing the attitude and intent on the field.”

Will Umesh Yadav returns to 3rd Test vs Australia?

The skipper also said that Umesh is recovering well. Management and medical staff will make the call if he would be able to play in the next Test.

South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, who was due to represent Melbourne Renegades in the BBL 2020, has withdrawn from Australia’s premier T20 competition owing to personal reasons.

Imran Tahir Withdraws from BBL 2020

Tahir had been in doubt to play in the BBL after his arrival was delayed in December with the Australian government requiring overseas players to do a 14-day quarantine in a hotel room prior to being available to play.

Coach Michael Klinger has said that Tahir withdrawing from the competition is a huge blow but the team is counting on the 15-year-old Noor Ahmad.

“Unfortunately, Imran is not coming for personal reasons. He’s a great player so it is a loss. But at the same time we’ve seen Noor Ahmad a couple of games ago, a bowler who people haven’t seen that much, it might actually work in our favour.

He’ll now be able to play a fair chunk of that back end of the season, with Imad Wasim. Nabi has to go home for international duty. It is a loss but at the same time what a huge opportunity for young Noor to come in and have a huge impact on the BBL,” Kling said.

“The mood is still pretty good because we know what we’re capable of doing. We saw in game one how well we played. We know we’ve got the ability in the group to really come out and perform well,” he added.

    Tahir’s performance in IPL 2020

Earlier Imran Tahir has also spent his time in the bio-secure bubble in UAE where he assigned to play for CSK. But due to lots and lots of confusion Imran Tahir has bowled only in 3 matches and picks only 1 wicket.

CSK for the first time in its history failed to enter the playoff after missing the service of its Key players. CSK is expected to come back with boom in the IPL 2021 for which they are well known.

Sachin Tendulkar explains the flaw did by Shaw in the 1st Test against Australia

Indian former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar highlights the flaw did by Prithvi Shaw in the 1st Test against Australia.

    Sachin Highlights Prithvi Shaw’s Flaw

The much-expected young gun Shaw fails to prove his worth in the 1st Test and replaced by Gill in the 2nd Test against Australia. Shaw struggles to lock his place in the playing XI.

Regarding this legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar claims that the backlift performed by Prithvi Shaw is the major reason for the ball is sneaking through his defenses.

    Prithvi Shaw and Gill
    Prithvi Shaw and Gill

“With Prithvi, I feel it’s the backlift,” Tendulkar said on his YouTube channel. “I feel his hands are moving away from his body, and then coming in. So, it’s a scoop, rather than a pendulum or a cradle, which goes in a straight line.

But what is happening because his hands are away and then he’s coming down it’s coming down straight but if the ball zips through the surface, that is when problems get created.”

Shaw has already witnessed the highs and lows of international cricket in his short career. He announced himself with a century on debut before being suspended for doping. Now he has been dropped from the

“It is not just to the balls coming in, but when a batsman is not playing well – I’m not talking only about Prithvi, it’s about any batter who’s not in good nick and has that kind of a backlift, because when you’re scooping, you don’t get the timing right and you edge the ball either on the outer side or the inside.

When you’re batting well, your timing is going to be right, but when you’re not, the straighter backlift helps,” Tendulkar explained.

Shaw’s flaw in 2nd Innings of the 1st Test

    Sachin Tendulkar's ODI bowling
    Sachin Tendulkar

Providing further insight into what led to Shaw being bowled by Pat Cummins in the second innings in Adelaide, Tendulkar said it’s not just the movement of the body but also what’s going on in the mind at that moment that’s affecting the 20-year-old.

“In the second innings, I felt he was caught on the move. There were a number of batters who were caught on the move. They were late in playing the ball just a fraction. That can happen because there are so many things going on in your head.

Here, again if you see, because there were a lot of things going on in his mind, he was a fraction late on getting on the ball because if you notice, his foot was in the air in the second innings,” the most prolific run-getter in international cricket’s history said.

“People talk about footwork, but it’s not about the bowler body. Footwork is in your mind, your head. So, if you’re not thinking properly, your lower body is not going to follow instructions. When there are multiple things going on in your head, it is going to affect your footwork. It’s in the mind,” he added.

    Player of the Match

    Daniel Hughes

A lot was going through my mind. But I just swung hard. Things went according to our plan. If they can get 193, so can we. Didn’t bowl well though but it was a nice wicket. We wanted to take it deep. We enjoy each other’s success.
