The Australia opener Travis Head was impressive during the match against New Zealand and was named the Player of the Match.

Australia is scheduled to play against New Zealand in the World Cup 2023 at HPCA stadium. Winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bowl where David Warner and Travis Head opened the innings while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.

They had an impressive start as Warner scored 81 runs on 65 deliveries including 5 fours and 6 sixes while Travis Head smashed 109 runs on 67 deliveries including 10 fours and 7 sixes and was sent out by Glenn Phillips.

With Steven Smith sent out with 18 runs, Steven Smith and Labuschagne scored 36 and 18 runs respectively, and were dismissed by Santner.

Maxwell scored 41 runs on 24 deliveries and was sent out by Neesham. Australia scored 325 runs on 6 wickets in the 45th over.

Josh Inglis and Cummins scored 38 and 37 runs while other batters were sent out with low figures. Glenn Phillips and Trent Boult dismissed three wickets each while Santner dismissed two wickets. By the end, Australia scored 388 runs losing all 10 wickets.

With the target of 389 runs, Devon Conway and Will Young opened the innings, while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack. Devon and Will Young had a decent start where they scored 28 and 32 runs and were dismissed by Hazlewood.

Rachin Ravindra had an impressive knock on 116 runs on 89 deliveries including 9 fours and 5 sixes. Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham scored 54 and 21 runs and were dismissed by Adam Zampa.

James Neesham was sent out with 5 runs on 39 deliveries and was sent out with a runout. Other batters were sent out with low figures. Adam Zampa dismissed three wickets while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins dismissed two wickets each.

By the end of 50 overs, New Zealand scored 383 runs losing 9 wickets. Travis Head was named as the Player of the Match.

While speaking after the match Travis Head said, “Nice to be back. Nice to be contributing. Nice to get the win, got very close there, was a hell of a game. I had only had a couple of hits (since returning from injury). Obviously had six weeks off.”

“I think so (asked if it is just about getting the confidence back on return). Few blokes found it tough out there, keep pushing with the bat. We (him and Warner) play together really well. We complement each other really well, make sure we stay connected with each other and stay with each other,” he concluded.

Australia will be playing their next World Cup match against England on November 4 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
