ICC Test Rankings: Yashasvi climbs 11 spots, Rohit jumps to 9th rank

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a solid start in IND vs WI Test due to which he has advanced in the ICC rankings claiming 63 on the list of batters. The Indian Players Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi, and Mohammad Siraj had a huge jump in the ICC Test rankings which was released on Wednesday.

Yashasvi made an impressive debut on the WI tour 2023 and had raised up in the ICC rankings after his scores of 57 and 38 in his second appearance.

Jaiswal does have a long way to compete with the highest-ranked batters in the world, with Williamson leading the way despite some of his closest challenges putting up competition following the completion of the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester.

Pakistan’s Shaud Shakeel scored a double century in the first Test against Sri Lanka which raised him 12 spots to 15th position and registered his new career-best rating.

India captain Rohit jumped to the 9th spot after scores of 80 and 57 in the second Test against the West Indies in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He is the highest-ranked Indian batter in the Test rankings.

Rohit is followed by his teammate Rishabh Pant, who has slipped one slot to 12th place on 743 points and Virat Kohli remains in 14th place on 733 points.

Australia right-hander and former No.1 ranked batter Marnus Labuschagne has advanced three spots overall after his century at Old Trafford.

India seamer Mohammed Siraj had a big movement in rankings following his side’s draw in the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad, with the right arm rising to a new career-best jumping six places to 33rd overall on the list for bowlers.

Siraj picked up a five-wicket haul during the West Indies first innings of the second test in WI Tout 2023. Ravindra Jadeja moved up to the sixth in bowlers’ ranking which is still led by India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin followed by South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada (second) and Australia captain Pat Cummins (third).

Ravindra Jadeja (782) has climbed to sixth. Sri Lankan Prabath Jayasuriya’s seven-wicket haul in Galle has advanced him seven places higher to a career-best seventh position.

Ramesh Mendis is up one place to 21st after finishing with six wickets in the match.

Pacers Mark Wood made it upto 23rd place and Chris Woakes advanced 5 places moving to 31st are the important higher-ranked players for England, while Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed moves 12 places up and West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican (up six places to 62nd) are among the others to advance.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Jadeja and Ashwin continue to hold on to the top two spots, while Axar Patel is still number five in the rankings.
