    Gerald Coetzee Biography: The South African Bowler Gerald Coetzee has started his Cricketing journey in a List A match in October 2018. Since then his performance in the bowling department on his domestic and International Career stunned and helped his side on various occasions.

    He has played in South Africa U19, Knights, Jozi Stars, Rajasthan Royals, South Africa A, South Africa, and Joburg Super Kings.

    During the IPL 2021, he was signed by the Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Liam Livingstone. Coetzee was added to the Texas Super Kings roster for the inaugural season of Major League Cricket.

    Gerald Coetzee has been a cricket enthusiast since childhood and practiced the sport along with his elder brother.

    His brother has been highly responsible for his interest in the sport from a small age. He was amazed and interested in bowling fast which motivated him to train even harder. He then joined the club and practiced bowling intensively.

    Gerald made his debut on First Class during the match between Knights vs Warriors on October 07 – 10, 2019 at Kimberly. He threw 15 overs in the 1st Innings and dismissed two wickets helping the side win by 255 run difference.

    Gerald made his debut in the List A match between Free State and Northerns at Bloemfontein on October 14, 2018. He was impressive as he dismissed a five-wicket haul, but his side lost the match.

    He made his domestic T20 debut during the match between Lions and Knights in Potchefstroom on April 12, 2009, where he dismissed two wickets, but his side lost the match.

    IPL Career

    Gerald Coetzee has registered for the IPL 2024 auction for a base price of INR 2 Crores. He was sold to Mumbai Indians for INR 5 Crores on 19 December 2023.

    Gerald Coetzee made his ODI debut on March 18, 2023, during South Africa’s match against West Indies at East London where he dismissed 3 wickets for 57 runs. He dismissed the crucial wickets of Pooran and Powell who scored 39 and 46 respectively. But his performance did not shine as their side lost the match with 48 runs.

    Gerald made his T20I debut in the match against Australia at Durham on August 30, 2023. He dismissed the wicket of Josh Inglis with one run in a crucial period, but the side lost the match with 111 runs difference.

    • He dismissed 18 wickets in seven matches he played in the World Cup 2023 with an average of 19.39. Coetzee had surpassed the player Lance Klusener who took 17 wickets in World Cup 1999.
